Once someone activated it, they would be transported to the Class Transfer Space.
They would earn the Phantom Class Transfer Scroll by completing the three trials.
If they failed to finish or ran out of time, the class transfer would be considered a failure, and the player would be erased on the spot.
Of course, Lin Zhiluo had only learned all this after changing classes.
In his previous life, he'd been half coerced and half tricked into entering the Class Transfer Space.
At first, rumors had spread all over Modu that there was treasure inside the Modu Museum.
Lin Zhiluo and his three roommates in name had come to the Modu Museum because of those rumors.
That was where Lin Zhiluo had met Li Haobo, Yao Jinghan, and Li Haobo's bodyguards. (In his previous life, Yao Jinghan hadn't died, so Li Haobo hadn't hired the Hunting Mercenary Group right from the start.)

Instead, he'd approached Lin Zhiluo's three roommates in private and offered them enough benefits to make them betray Lin Zhiluo.
The betrayal itself was simple: they'd urged Lin Zhiluo to activate the scroll.
At the time, Lin Zhiluo didn't know that activating it meant he'd "meet an untimely death."
His "close" roommates had talked him into it, claiming that activating the scroll would make him stronger.
Blinded by rage, Lin Zhiluo hadn't seen through their lies.
On top of that, Li Haobo's men had threatened him.
In the end, he'd chosen to activate the scroll.
But against everyone's expectations, Lin Zhiluo had passed the trials and obtained the Phantom Class Transfer Scroll.
Though during the class transfer, the boss in the third trial had grabbed his face and left it horribly disfigured.
That was more or less what had happened.

He also gave Da Sha a disguise.
On the floor where the bodyguards had stayed, he found a custom-made bodyguard uniform that fit Da Sha's build.
With sunglasses on, Da Sha's red eyes and fangs—both unmistakable zombie traits—were completely hidden.
From the outside, he looked like a fierce, reassuring bodyguard.
Lin Zhiluo also took some of the Hunting Mercenary Group's weapons.
He took a few daggers, while Da Sha took a large cleaver.
Only then did the two of them stride out of the Li Family Villa.
It was already the fourth day of the apocalypse.
Most players had started to adjust to their new reality.
And most households had run out of their supplies during those first three days.
These two factors had driven large numbers of players out of their homes to actively hunt zombies.
Some were lucky enough to find one or two pieces of equipment or an item.
More commonly, they got Supplies Cards.
They also enjoyed the rush of killing zombies, gaining experience, leveling up, and improving their attributes.
That was enough to send some players on a zombie-hunting spree.
As for the idea that zombies were too hard to fight—
Just as the Doomsday Game had announced when it arrived, the first seven days were a beginner protection period.
The zombies' intelligence, attributes, abilities, and rate of leveling were all being suppressed to some extent.
An average adult could take on a single zombie.
And, honestly,
most young people had played online games or read apocalyptic novels.
Faced with an apocalypse that had become a real-life game,
they drew on what they'd learned from games and novels.
Humanity's incredible ability to adapt was on full display.
Before long, players had started teaming up and helping one another, joining forces to survive.
Whether people could truly work together in an apocalypse was another matter entirely.
Of course, players came up with all kinds of ways to kill zombies: luring them in, setting traps, splitting them up, and more.
As players grew stronger,
more and more of them in downtown Modu began to notice one particular place.
The Modu Museum.
Normally, the Modu Museum was a hugely popular attraction.
But after the Doomsday Game arrived, it became a living hell.
Huge numbers of zombies had trapped people who hadn't managed to escape the museum in time.
They'd eaten a few of them, and turned the rest into their own kind.
As a result, the museum and its entrance were crawling with zombies.
It was a great place to grind levels and earn experience!
Players began plotting ways to take advantage of the Modu Museum.
