Nature and Cultivation

Dou Qi is ambient energy sensed from the surrounding world and drawn into a cultivator’s body through cultivation methods and hand seals. Cultivators guide it through their meridians, refine it, and accumulate it to advance through the established realm system. 1 6

The speed at which a person first senses Dou Qi is treated as an indicator of talent. Xiao Ling senses it on his first attempt, whereas Xiao Yan is noted to have needed a full day. 1

At the ninth stage, a cultivator can use Qi Gathering Powder to condense a Dou Qi Vortex and enter the Dou Zhe realm. The vortex is the foundation of formal Dou Qi cultivation and enables internal vision. 2 6
