Hidden Cave

When Jiang Yuanjie heard Ling Fei's question, his bulky body suddenly trembled. It seemed he'd remembered a painful experience.

"Wait! You'd better help shove me into the cave. We'll talk once we're inside!" Jiang Yuanjie's eyes darted around. It seemed he realized there was no need to come out just yet, so he shouted loudly.

"Heh heh, sure!" Ling Fei answered.

Mu Qing and Ling Fei exchanged glances, the corners of their mouths suddenly lifting. The next moment, each of them raised a foot and kicked Jiang Yuanjie hard in the face.

Jiang Yuanjie shot backward with a scream, and then Mu Qing and Ling Fei heard something heavy crash to the ground.

Mu Qing was curious. He had no idea how Jiang Yuanjie had cultivated with so much fat on his body, yet hadn't shed any of it during training.

"Get in, quick! Don't let anyone outside see you!" Jiang Yuanjie's voice came from the hidden cave.

Mu Qing's thoughts stirred. Jiang Yuanjie might have run into some trouble, so he and Ling Fei hurried into the cave.

They activated the lights on their communication devices, and the pitch-black cave immediately brightened. Solid rock walls surrounded them. It was spacious, big enough to hold around ten people.

When they turned their eyes to Jiang Yuanjie, Mu Qing and Ling Fei suddenly burst out laughing.

Jiang Yuanjie was glaring at them. Two black footprints were clearly stamped on his chubby face.

"Even after I went to all that trouble to set things up, you still found the cave. Looks like I didn't hide it well enough," Jiang Yuanjie said slowly, wiping the black footprints from his face.

Mu Qing and Ling Fei's thoughts stirred at his words.

So the cave they'd found was so well hidden that it was hard to spot without looking carefully because Jiang Yuanjie had taken the time to disguise it.

"Why were you hiding? What happened to your friends?" Ling Fei asked.

He remembered that before entering the depths of Lake Heart Island, Jiang Yuanjie had formed a team with members of the News Department.

"We walked into a trap. It was people from North Campus. They ambushed us. You know that I'm the only one in the News Department at Blood Qi Fifth Rank. There's a team of twenty top students from West Campus."

"They hardly ever hunt beasts. Their main targets are students from the other three campuses. The News Department ran into them earlier, and they took all our points. I was the only one who escaped. That group from North Campus was still wandering around nearby, so I hid to avoid them."

Jiang Pangzi's chubby face was filled with anger. His fists clenched, and Mu Qing and Ling Fei could clearly sense his rage.

All the News Department members he'd led had been eliminated. Quite a few had even been badly injured by the North Campus students and taken away by teachers for treatment.

"What about you two?" Jiang Pangzi suddenly looked at Mu Qing and Ling Fei.

Seeing them covered in blood and grime, he furrowed his brow and asked in surprise, "Your injuries look even worse than mine. Don't tell me you ran into that group from North Campus too?"

Mu Qing shook his head. "We didn't run into students from the other three campuses. We ran into a pack of gray wolves. There were so many of them, we couldn't even count them at a glance, and they were led by three giant wolves at Blood Qi Fifth Rank."

Mu Qing then told Jiang Yuanjie how they'd managed to escape the Gray Wolf Pack.

"Impressive! You fought your way out of the Gray Wolf Pack and even turned the danger toward Wang Haixuan. Heh heh." Jiang Pangzi burst out laughing, his face full of schadenfreude.

"Jiang Pangzi, you're on your own now. Why not join us? It'll be hard to avoid elimination if you keep going alone." Ling Fei extended an invitation.

To be honest, a team with only him and Mu Qing was a little weak. Two fists couldn't fend off four hands. If Jiang Yuanjie joined them, their overall strength would improve quite a bit.

At this, Jiang Yuanjie fell silent, thinking over whether he should join Mu Qing and the others.

Then he gritted his teeth and said, "All right, I'm in!"

He was all alone now. It would clearly be much harder to roam Lake Heart Island by himself, so he might as well stick with Mu Qing and the others.

"You two look like you've run out of strength. Rest for a while; I'll keep watch for you," Jiang Yuanjie said.

Mu Qing and Ling Fei exchanged glances, then nodded.

The wolves might have been weak individually, but there were so many of them. Mu Qing and Ling Fei had killed over two hundred, yet the pack seemed no smaller.

Mu Qing guessed that even Wang Haixuan and his group wouldn't have an easy time dealing with the Gray Wolf Pack.

"Wait! I feel like I'm about to break through to Blood Qi Sixth Rank." Ling Fei's face suddenly turned serious, though a hint of delight showed in his eyes. "Jiang Pangzi, hurry and keep watch for me."

Mu Qing and Jiang Yuanjie were both startled, then their faces lit up with delight.

If Ling Fei broke through to Blood Qi Sixth Rank, he'd surely become one of the strongest people on Lake Heart Island. He'd even be able to hold his own against Wang Haixuan.

"Don't worry! With me here, nothing will happen!" Jiang Yuanjie thumped his chest. "After I awakened my Blood Spirit, my senses skyrocketed to an incredible level. If anyone approaches, I'll know right away!"
