Yang Hui used a bullet specifically designed to deal with Commander-level monsters. This armor-piercing round possessed astonishing power, reaching speeds several times that of sound.
Because the speed was so high, the resulting sonic boom trailed behind the bullet, meaning the monster could not hear the gunshot immediately.
The Three-Tailed Tiger Cat was struck in the neck. The bullet rotated inside the monster's body, shattering more than half of its neck, leaving it connected by only a sliver of flesh.
Blood gushed wildly from the Three-Tailed Tiger Cat's neck, and it couldn't even let out a cry.
On the rooftop, the group saw the Three-Tailed Cat Demon hit and quickly rushed down.
"Brothers, let's clear out the remaining Tiger Cats; that Three-Tailed Tiger Cat is as good as dead. Once we kill the monsters, clean up the battlefield quickly. The sound of the gunfire will attract nearby monsters, so be careful," Chen Fan said rapidly while on the move.
Chen Fan charged to the front, and upon seeing the dying Three-Tailed Tiger Cat, he ended its life with a single shot.
He then flicked his spear, thrusting to the side to take down a Tiger Cat. At this moment, several Tiger Cats surrounded Chen Fan, preparing to attack.
"Hmph!" Chen Fan pulled out his long spear, his eyes narrowing, and he swept the weapon across the several Tiger Cats in front of him with both hands.
Following a series of yelps, the Tiger Cats were sent flying to the ground.
"Captain, I'm here to help." Zhao Yong was the second to reach the battlefield. Seeing more and more Tiger Cats surrounding Chen Fan, he swung his heavy blade and began hacking away.
Squelch. Without any flashy sword techniques, Zhao Yong's blade sliced across a Tiger Cat, leaving a long wound, and a backhand strike ended the life of another.
Sett and Luo Feng immediately joined the fray as well. The four of them engaged in a chaotic battle with the remaining Tiger Cats, while Yang Hui on the rooftop kept an eye on the surroundings, ready to alert the group below at any moment.
"Brother Zhao, watch out!" Sett leaped into the air and tackled a pouncing Cat Demon to the ground. Then, golden light erupted from his hands, and Sett delivered two rapid punches to the Tiger Cat's head.
Thud, thud. The Tiger Cat's head was smashed by Sett, and it died on the spot.
Zhao Yong finished off a Cat Demon in front of him with two slashes and quickly turned to look at Sett behind him.
"Brother Zhao, that Tiger Cat tried to ambush me just now, but I tackled it to the ground and beat it to death," Sett said with a smile as he stood up.
"Watch out!" Zhao Yong suddenly exploded into motion, his blade swinging toward Sett.
Squelch. The Tiger Cat that had been sneaking up behind Sett was cleaved in two by Zhao Yong, its head flying high into the air.
"Don't get distracted when fighting monsters!" Zhao Yong said to Sett before immediately engaging the next Tiger Cat.
Luo Feng held a shield in one hand and a blade in the other, fighting a high-level Soldier-level Tiger Cat.
Luo Feng nimbly dodged the Tiger Cat's attacks. "Get lost!" With two precise steps, Luo Feng dodged another attack, and while evading, he slammed the shield in his left hand heavily into the Tiger Cat's body.
The Tiger Cat lost its center of gravity and stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.
How could Luo Feng let such a good opportunity slip? He turned his head and slashed at the Tiger Cat's neck.
Squelch. As the Blood Shadow Battle Blade drew out the Tiger Cat's blood, the beast finally collapsed.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Chen Fan danced his long spear, every move and stance beautiful to the extreme.
In just this short while, he had already killed six Cat Demons.
Each Cat Demon had a body nearly two meters tall; they were massive, and Sett looked like a tiny speck in front of them.
Thud! Sett's fist struck the Tiger Cat's head, knocking out several of its teeth, while the brass knuckles on his hands deformed the creature's bone.
Pummel! Following this, faint golden light emerged from Sett's hands. His fists moved from bottom to top like a cannonball leaving the chamber, tearing through the air as they slammed into the Tiger Cat's chin.
Thud! The Tiger Cat's chin took the massive force of the punch, shattering instantly. Its head snapped upward, pulling its neck along with it.
With a crack, the neck was snapped by the immense power, and even its massive body was sent flying into the air.
Finally, with a thump, the Tiger Cat flew several meters away, landing splayed out on the ground, already devoid of life.
"Take this!" Sett didn't even look at the Tiger Cat he had just sent flying, instead launching a sweeping kick at the legs of another Tiger Cat.
The Tiger Cat reacted quickly, jumping lightly to dodge Sett's kick, and opened its massive maw to bite at Sett's head.
"So stinky!" Sett looked up to see a pitch-black maw biting toward him, but he didn't panic. He raised both hands, grabbing the chin with his left and the upper jaw with his right, prying the Tiger Cat's mouth open.
"Yah!" Sett exerted force with both hands, and with a crack, the Tiger Cat's jaw was dislocated, leaving it with an upper jaw that looked quite comical.
Just as Sett was preparing to land a few punches to end its life, he heard a squelch—the Tiger Cat's head was severed by a large blade and flew off into the distance.
"You okay?" Zhao Yong saw that Sett had almost been eaten and rushed over to provide support.
"I'm fine, Brother Yong," Sett laughed.
The dozen or so Tiger Cats were quickly cleared out, and the group didn't even have time to rest before rushing to harvest the valuable parts from the monsters.
The Tiger Cats' tails, teeth, sharp claws, and fur were all good items.
However, the group only took the claws and tails from the Soldier-level ones; after all, skinning them was very time-consuming, and the fur of a Soldier-level Tiger Cat wasn't worth enough to justify the effort.
After quickly cleaning up, the group returned to the rooftop and collapsed on the ground, limbs splayed.
"Yang Hui, nice work!" Chen Fan grinned, speaking to Yang Hui.
After all, being able to take down a Commander-level monster with a single shot required excellent marksmanship.
Monsters usually only had a few spots that could be pierced by a single bullet, such as the neck, chin, eyes, and so on.
Moreover, the movement speed of a Commander-level monster was extremely fast; even the fastest bullet required a certain amount of lead time, otherwise, if the target shifted its position even slightly, one would only hit thin air.
"You're too kind, you're too kind," Yang Hui said with a shy smile, speaking repeatedly.
"Not at all, you were the biggest contributor this time. This Three-Tailed Cat Demon is probably worth 15 to 20 million; you should get at least half," Chen Fan continued.
A mid-level Beast General monster along with over a dozen Beast Soldier monsters could cause quite a bit of trouble for the Hunting Gun Squad; if they weren't careful, it would be easy for a team member to get injured.
Everyone had no complaints about this distribution, even if they received a smaller share, because it was safe enough.
Yang Hui had also been with the Hunting Gun Squad for quite some time and knew the rules.
After all, even brothers must settle accounts clearly; only when the money is distributed fairly does a squad have cohesion.
"Everyone performed well. Luo Feng, it's not very difficult for you to kill high-level Beast Soldier monsters anymore."
"And Sett, you kid, fighting monsters is truly exciting; I almost wanted to film it. But I reckon your strength must be at the level of a high-level Warrior by now, otherwise, how could you knock over such a large monster with a single punch?" Chen Fan said with a smile.
After all, this was their first day entering the city, and they had already obtained materials from three Beast General monsters; it was estimated that their harvest over these two weeks would be significant.
What do Warriors risk their lives for if not to earn more money and live a better life? For most Warriors, their strength growth hits a ceiling once they reach the high-level Warrior or War General level.
While they are still young and able to fight, they must hurry to kill more monsters and earn their retirement money.
After all, while hunting monsters, monsters also hunt Warriors; it is truly licking blood from the edge of a blade.
Chen Fan was also very happy, happy about the big harvest today, and happy that the two newcomers, Luo Feng and Sett, both had such impressive combat power; as long as some time passed, fighting even higher-level monsters would not be impossible.
"Looking at the sky, it's getting late, so let's rest. That's it for today; the monsters are endless." After lying down for a while and seeing the sun setting, Chen Fan called everyone up to find a room downstairs to rest.
The anti-theft door had been sitting idle for decades, and it could be kicked open with a light nudge.
After a simple meal, Sett took out a towel and dampened it with some water to wash his face. After all, fighting monsters like that left his face covered in bloodstains; if he didn't wash up, he could pass for a ghost.
"Hey, Mom, I'm fine. I had a fight with some monsters today; I took them down one punch at a time, you wouldn't believe how impressive I was." Sett held his communication watch, quickly calling home to report that he was safe.
Being in the Wilderness Zone every day, his family was worried, and only by making a phone call at night could he soothe their anxious hearts.
"Be careful out there. Killing a couple of monsters is enough; pay more attention to your own safety." Jin Wenying said repeatedly over the phone.
Initially, Jin Wenying had been very supportive of Sett becoming a Warrior, but once Sett actually became one, Jin Wenying was not as happy, instead feeling very worried about his safety.
