Dann pressed a hand to his temple, feeling as though he had blood lodged in his throat, yet unable to spit it out no matter what.
He raised his head and fixed the man across the table with an icy stare.
Yet the other man sat with one leg crossed over the other, wearing an utterly indifferent expression.
He was arrogant to an outrageous degree, but Dann had no way to deal with him.
There was no other reason—aside from Dann himself, this man was the other person who held real power in the Merchants Guild. Though he might have been somewhat weaker than Dann, taking him down would not be easy.

Dann cast a gloomy glance behind the man.
Two figures cloaked in black stood there. Though they had remained silent from beginning to end, the pressure they exuded was immense.
Seeing his expression, the man—Tuck—let out a derisive laugh.
"Councilman Dann, what are you still hesitating over? Do you think Lord Kuxia's offer isn't high enough, or do you think Duke Wenton's side is the better choice?"
Dann's expression immediately turned extremely unpleasant upon hearing that.
"Though the guild has always been under Duke Wenton's jurisdiction, didn't we agree long ago that, no matter what, we would not get involved in this mess of choosing a king..."
Yet Tuck remained utterly unconcerned.
"That was then, this is now—who the fuck could have predicted that Wenton, that old bastard, would ignore His Majesty's decree and suddenly start a war? That man will be purged sooner or later. What are you waiting for? Are you planning to die alongside his sinking ship?"
Several veins bulged on Dann's forehead at once after being cut off.

Dann glanced to the side and saw
