New Year's Day.
For many Americans, this was a day of family celebration, often combined with Christmas into a single extended holiday. However, for Hollywood film and entertainment companies, when everyone else was at their most relaxed, they were at their busiest—and most profitable. Thus, the major entertainment companies had already resumed work several days ago.
Today, every employee at UPN, from executives to rank-and-file staff, felt somewhat uneasy.
Because the new CEO would officially take office today!
"Have you heard? The company's new CEO is a woman." One UPN executive let out a disdainful snort.
Another Black executive nodded. "I know that woman—Donna Langley! Last summer, I saw her at a Universal Pictures film celebration party and even exchanged a few words with her."
"Oh? What's she like? Is she going to be strict?" the executive asked.
"Heh-heh~"
The Black executive shook his head with a smile and said in an extremely contemptuous tone, "Don't let the fact that she came from Universal Pictures fool you. She's just an ordinary film producer. Do you really think she has what it takes to handle UPN's administrative work?"
After a pause, he continued, "My guess is that she'll just make a lot of noise without accomplishing anything. She'll throw her weight around at first, but in the end, she'll still have to rely on us."
At that, the other executives relaxed somewhat.
"Hahaha, if that's really the case, then UPN will still be our turf."
"Hey, don't put it that way. She'll be our immediate superior from now on, after all."
"Doret, you're not being honest."
"Exactly! Did you think we didn't know what that old fox was thinking?"
"That's right. You must be planning to give the new CEO a show of force."
"Hahaha~~!"
