Today, Zucker Wald was not at the set of The Day After Tomorrow because the crew was on break!

That's right, they were on break!

Over one-third of the scenes in the movie The Day After Tomorrow consisted of frozen, snow-covered landscapes. While some of these shots could be achieved through computer-generated imagery, certain set designs required authentic icy environments rather than digital synthesis.

In three days, the crew would head to Dinan Island for filming.

Going to Dinan Island...

Dinan Island is located at the southern tip of the Australian continent. It is a small island with a permanent population of fewer than 500 people. Situated adjacent to the Antarctic continent, the temperature there remains below 5 degrees Celsius year-round, and at its coldest, it drops below minus 30 degrees. It is quite common for many Hollywood film companies to choose this location when filming "snow," "ice," or "extreme cold" weather conditions.

Most importantly, the local Australian government provides significant support to the film industry there!

Well, it's basically a tax rebate policy.

Of course, most Hollywood companies prefer to choose Canada over Australia when filming "snow," "ice," or "extreme cold" environments; after all, considering the geographical location, Canada is much closer to America.
