Two Partnerships Reached

As the days passed, on the fourth day after the Danaher Corporation promotional event ended, Zucker began formal talks with Danaher Corporation CEO Larry Culp and his executive team.

"Mr. Wald, I'll get straight to the point."

CEO Larry Culp spoke solemnly.

"Go ahead."

Zucker wasn't a fool. He had understood all along that Danaher Corporation had invited him to its promotional event for more than just the event itself. They certainly had other motives.

CEO Larry Culp first glanced around at the executives from his company, then said, "Mr. Wald, Danaher Corporation is a company focused on researching and manufacturing industrial equipment. Founded in 1969, our products are now exported to 110 countries and regions, including Asia, Australia, and South America. We have as many as 32 overseas offices and more than 10,000 employees worldwide. It's fair to say that Danaher Corporation has grown into a highly prominent multinational company."

Zucker nodded.

He knew Danaher Corporation's history fairly well. At least, during his stay in Kansas over the past few days, he hadn't been idle. He had read plenty of material and done his homework.

In short...

There was one key point: Danaher Corporation had considerable strength and a high standing in industrial manufacturing and exports.

"And what is it you want to say?" Zucker asked with a knowing smile.

CEO Larry Culp took a deep breath and said gravely, "In recent years, however, European countries have recovered, while Asia's ancient China, Japan, and other nations have risen rapidly. Danaher Corporation has faced serious market pressure on its share of global industrial equipment exports."

"And as time goes on, the impact of globalization will only grow more severe and more intense. Right now, the only way for us to develop further is to transform."
