Europe, Luxembourg.
Starship Technology headquarters.
Founded in 2000 with initial capital of around five million dollars, Starship Technology was a fairly decent company by Luxembourg's standards. Of course, across Europe as a whole, it barely stood out.
But!
Plenty of European bigwigs knew Starship Technology existed...
Because it belonged to Zucker.
It was also the only one of Zucker's many companies with its headquarters in Europe. And when former Starship Technology CEO Niklas Zennstrom jumped ship, the incident directly sparked a major battle between Zucker and Barclays Bank in the United Kingdom, shocking Europe at the time.
Since its founding, Starship Technology had released only one product: Kazaa, a peer-to-peer file-sharing program similar to Baidu Wangpan. So far, it had more than eight million users worldwide.
But reality was cruel!
Despite having eight million users, Kazaa had failed to bring Starship Technology enough profit. The company was still operating at a loss, and its estimated overall market value had taken a heavy hit.
In just two years, it had lost more than seven million dollars!
Starship Technology would have gone bankrupt long ago if Zucker hadn't repeatedly poured money into it without regard for profit!
Wesley Abbo, a renowned Wall Street financial expert, had once said on a television program, "I personally admire Mr. Zucker Wald's business acumen and investment philosophy. Since entering the business world, he has achieved astonishing success in film and entertainment, publishing, technology, construction, food and beverages, finance, and many other fields."
"Wald Pictures, Water World Animation, Under Armour..."
"Even in two of the most inconspicuous areas—drinking water and wine—he's managed to make a tremendous success of them."
"But!"
"As the saying goes, no one knows everything or can do everything."
"Starship Technology, headquartered in Luxembourg, Europe, is a blemish on Zucker Wald's otherwise remarkable career!"
