Hundreds of miles west of Jiangnan Base City stood a military base.

Amid a series of deafening roars, the train slowly came to a stop at the military station.
One by one, fully armed warriors and soldiers stepped off the train. There were several hundred of them in all.
Of course, the carriages for the warriors weren't nearly so crowded. Phantom Squad, one of the top War General Level squads, had even occupied a smaller carriage all to themselves.
Yang Wu and the other five stepped off the train, where they saw countless uniformed soldiers unloading all kinds of supplies and bringing large numbers of packages from the military base to load onto the train.
"Yang Wu, whenever we warriors head out to hunt monsters, we stop at military bases to replenish our supplies!"
In Phantom Squad, Captain Chu Tian's main role was to serve as the squad's strongest fighter. The one who handled the squad's day-to-day affairs was its vice-captain, Zhou Zheng.
Zhou Zheng addressed Yang Wu solemnly. "This is the front line in humanity's fight against monsters! This is what ensures ordinary people can live safely in the Base Cities!"
"Throughout Huaxia Country—and indeed the whole world—every Base City is protected by nearby military bases. That's how the cities stay safe! Every military base sets aside a special area where warriors entering or leaving the Wilderness Area can rest. And if the base comes under attack, the warriors have to help defend it!"
"Also, warriors are strictly forbidden from fighting one another inside a military base. Anyone caught doing so may be shot on the spot if the offense is serious!"
"Brother Zhou, I understand."
Yang Wu nodded.
The Warrior Supply Base stood in the heart of the military base. Its surroundings were quite pleasant, with quiet little buildings standing in neat rows.
"Old Zhou, Phantom Squad will be staying in B3 this time." An officer in charge of assigning rooms pointed to a rather elegant little building.
The officer then handed the key to Phantom Squad's vice-captain, Zhou Zheng, and patted him on the shoulder with a hearty laugh. "Old Zhou, it's been a long time since you came around. How long are you planning to stay this time? If you come across any good materials, be sure to sell them to me. I'll give you the best price!"
The military's Supply Base had buyers representing all the major factions, and this officer was clearly one of them.
As one of the top warrior squads in Jiangnan Base City, Phantom Squad could naturally hunt high-level monsters with ease.
Only true War God Level experts could claim to be stronger than them.
That was why the officer was so courteous to Yang Wu and the others.
Zhou Zheng smiled. "No problem. If I find anything good, I'll come to you, Old Qian!"
The special area inside the military base set aside for warriors to rest wasn't very large. After all, warriors were still quite rare.
After parting ways with the officer, Captain Chu Tian led the others toward the three-story building marked B3.
As the six of them walked along, they drew the attention of quite a few warrior squads resting nearby.
"It's Phantom Squad! Aren't they always around City 003? What brings them here?"
"Heh, I heard Phantom Squad just recruited a newcomer. Look, there are six of them now! They're probably here to get the team used to working together."
"Who is he? He must be pretty lucky to get into Phantom Squad."
"I heard he's a genius who just became a warrior. I think his name's Yang Wu."
"Who cares who he is? Come on, let's go greet Phantom Squad. If we run into trouble in the Wilderness Area someday, they might save our lives!"
Once the last man said that, many of the warrior squads were tempted.
When hunting monsters in the Wilderness Area, even War God Level experts couldn't guarantee they'd never run into danger.
If a squad did run into trouble, its warriors could send out an emergency distress signal while fleeing. If another squad nearby received it, they might come to help.
And at this military base, only a handful of War God experts were likely to be stronger than Phantom Squad.
What's more, Phantom Squad's captain, Chu Tian, was a Spiritual Master. With his Spiritual Force helping him fly, he was far better at rescue missions than most War God experts.
So some warriors leaned over their balconies and shouted greetings to Phantom Squad.
A few even came out of their buildings.
"Brother Zhou, what brings you to the West Military Region? Let's grab a meal together later!"
"Captain Chu, Sister Lu Qing, when are we going to celebrate your wedding?"
"Old Zheng, I'll come find you for a drink once we're back in the Base City!"
Many warriors greeted Chu Tian and the others warmly. Some even called out to Yang Wu.
The members of Phantom Squad, however, were long accustomed to such a warm welcome.
Zhou Zheng stepped forward and called out, "Brothers, we just got to the Supply Base, and we're all a little tired. We need to rest for a while. Once we're safely back in the Base City, I'll treat you all to drinks!"
"You said it, Old Zhou!"
"We'll hold you to that, Brother Zhou!"
Everyone chimed in.
Yang Wu and the others soon reached the little building assigned to Phantom Squad.
He slid the key over the sensor on the door, and it immediately opened. The squad members filed inside.
"Captain, I'm going to get some rest!"
After saying that, Zheng Tao took all his gear and went into a bedroom.
"Anyone who wants to rest should do so. We're setting out tonight, so don't want to be worn out by then! Brother Zhou, make sure you explain the rules to Yang Wu!" Chu Tian instructed.
"Understood!" Zhou Zheng promptly replied.
Zhou Zheng set down his gear, sat on a nearby sofa, and motioned for Yang Wu to sit beside him.
Once Yang Wu had sat down, Zhou Zheng said, "The weather's hot these days, so we usually travel at night. If you're tired, go get some rest first. You don't want to be worn out later."
"I'm fine, Brother Zhou," Yang Wu said calmly.
Seeing that Yang Wu wasn't tired, Zhou Zheng went on to tell him about the things he needed to watch out for while traveling.
Yang Wu had learned quite a bit from the posts on Extreme Home, but Zhou Zheng's advice was far more comprehensive.

By dusk, the six fully equipped members of Phantom Squad had left the Supply Base and set out along the abandoned highway toward City 023.
This time, however, the alloy case Lu Qing had been carrying was in Zhou Zheng's hands.
Since Yang Wu was a newcomer, he walked in the middle of the squad.
But to Yang Wu's surprise, Lu Qing, the squad's firepower specialist, was walking at the very front alongside Captain Chu Tian.
