Ever since Black Rock City had been physically sent to heaven by a Psionic Nuclear Bomb, and the players built a new city atop its ruins, a faction mission called "Beast Drive" had swiftly gone from a high-risk operation to the hottest job on the entire server.
The reason was simple and brutal: they died fast, but they earned fast too!
Suicide-squad players carried Shadow Cores radiating strange fluctuations and slipped into the territories of native ferocious beasts. The unlucky ones were stomped into white light on the spot by high-tier beasts. The lucky ones successfully drew aggro, leading massive beast hordes all the way to surviving Dark Spirit Race outposts, Shadow Altars, or simply into areas occupied by Starry Sky Behemoths.
As long as the beast horde crashed into its target and both sides tore each other apart, the profits would soar.
As for getting stomped to death midway, bitten to death, or corroded by a Shadow Core into a ball of flesh?
To the Fourth Calamity, those were merely necessary operating costs for a repeatable quest!
After several successful rounds, long lines formed before the quest board in New Black Rock City.
"Did you hear? Today, a Ghost Blade ran too fast and plunged headfirst into the Starry Sky Pollution Woodland. He messed up his movement and turned into a tree three seconds later."
"Turned into a tree?"
"Yeah, literally a tree. After reviving, he even had two extra leaves in his inventory. They turned out to be alchemy materials after appraisal."
"Holy shit, that counts as loot? You really are an animal!"
Amid the players' carefree clamor, the four-man group from Dorm 119 squeezed their way to the quest board as well.
