"Next up is today's grand finale."
On the screen, Jiang Zhu smiled with poise and elegance. She took a deep breath, then slowly began:
"A Head Soul Bone: the Spirit Condensing Wisdom Skull. It is ninety thousand years old, just shy of becoming a Hundred Thousand Year Soul Bone. It is perfectly preserved—the best of the best. I'm sure everyone knows what it does, so I won't go into detail.
"The starting bid is thirty million Gold Soul Coins, and each bid must be at least one million Gold Soul Coins higher than the last."
The starting bid was the same as the final price of the first lot, and this Soul Bone was sure to fetch far more.
Even through the screen, they could see the space around the Soul Bone—shaped like a human skull—warping and blurring.
"Hmph."
The Ice Empress looked grim, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. Her voice was filled with anger. "Wretched humans. Not one of them is any good."
The Snow Empress and Xiao Bai looked just as displeased. After all, the item on sale was a Soul Beast's Soul Bone, and it was hard not to feel bad about it.
"Ahem, don't condemn them all. There are one or two decent ones," Xu Lanqing said meekly. He tightened his grip and gently kneaded the Snow Empress's delicate hand.
As he played with her hand, the Snow Empress's frosty gaze softened. She gave a light tug, though it felt more like she was indulging him, and said softly, "I know you're one of the good ones. Stop touching me, or I won't hold your hand anymore."
The Ice Empress caught the whole scene out of the corner of her eye. She pressed her lips together, took a sip of juice, and said nothing.
