Behind the little girl stood a beautiful woman around thirty, dressed in plain cloth and bearing a seventy-percent resemblance to her, combing the girl's hair.
These two were Human-Form Spirit Beasts transformed from two Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbits: Xiao Wu and her mother, Ah Rou.
For Spirit Beasts to take human form, they needed human appearances as references.
Several decades ago, in order to study the structure of human bodies, the mother and daughter Ah Rou and Xiao Wu had attacked a group of Spirit Masters who had come to the Star Dou Forest to hunt Spirit Rings, capturing a human mother and daughter pair of Spirit Masters.
Everyone else in the group had been killed, leaving only that mother and daughter.
Xiao Wu and Ah Rou's current appearances had been modeled after those two when they transformed, and even their names had been inherited from them.
Ah Rou had originally intended to keep the mother and daughter alive, but the mischievous and playful Xiao Wu had later played them to death. Their bodies were buried behind this wooden cabin, and the grass on their graves had probably grown dozens of yards tall by now.
At that moment, voices came from within the cabin.
A gentle-sounding voice rang out in an exceptionally spoiled and irritable scolding tone. It was Ah Rou's voice:
"Xiao Wu, how many times have I told you not to hop around everywhere? Why won't you ever listen?!"
"Have you forgotten how your father died? He loved hopping around recklessly too, and that was why a Beast deep in the forest swallowed him whole in one bite. Do you want to end up like your father, with not
