Background / History

Medusa ruled the Snake-Person Race during a period she considered precarious: despite her strength, the tribe faced pressure from the Jia Ma Empire and neighboring powers. Her intended solution was to evolve through the Green Lotus Core Flame, a process so dangerous that failure would mean death and leave her people without their strongest protector. A High Priest's divination had also foretold that an outsider could change the race's fate within half a year. Medusa did not place faith in destiny itself, but took Ye Xiu's ability and conduct seriously. 37 40

When Ye Xiu infiltrated the Snake-Person settlement, Medusa initially treated him as a hostile human intruder. His effortless defeat of the five-star Dou Wang Mo Basi and his knowledge of her evolution plan forced her to negotiate rather than fight within the city. Ye Xiu offered to refine a Soul-Melting Pill and control the Green Lotus Core Flame during her evolution in exchange for the flame itself. 36 37

Medusa entered a soul contract with Ye Xiu, binding both parties through heart-blood and soul; betrayal would shatter the violator's soul. During the following month, she had her people acquire the pill ingredients and gradually began visiting Ye Xiu regularly, shifting from suspicion toward familiarity. 38

After Ye Xiu refined five sixth-tier Soul-Melting Pills, Medusa allowed him to absorb the Green Lotus Core Flame. He then oversaw her evolution at the temple magma pool, using the pill and a wisp of the flame's origin to stabilize her when an assault on the temple distracted her. 39 42

The evolution succeeded, but the fusion between Medusa's soul and that of the Seven-Colored Heaven-Swallowing Python was initially incomplete.
