Beneath the surface of one red planet lay countless crisscrossing tunnels. No one knew what they had originally been used for, but now they were as dead and silent as the planet above.
Suddenly, a pale blue ring of light appeared in the tunnels and spread outward. In less than a second, it had expanded to five meters across. A bone-chilling pressure radiated from it, freezing the surrounding area for several kilometers in an instant.
