For the next several days, Danzo had been busy handling all kinds of postwar matters in the village.
The first task was calculating the losses.
Among the ninja, more than a thousand had either died or suffered severe injuries that permanently left them unable to fight again. That number included dozens of Jonin!
Such losses would have been enough to cripple any ninja village.
Put another way, the combat strength Konoha had lost this time would have been enough to wipe out any nation outside the Five Great Nations!
That was no exaggeration. Those small nations only had a few hundred ninja at most, while their Jonin numbered in the single digits—perhaps ten or twenty at the absolute most.
The Uchiha Clan alone would have been enough to destroy them.
That showed just how terrifying Konoha's losses had been this time.
As for civilians, several thousand had been injured or killed. An astonishing quarter of Konoha had been destroyed, and large numbers of ninja were now throwing themselves into reconstruction efforts.
Furthermore, during this battle, Konoha had lost a great many precious ninjutsu scrolls and research materials. Even the Book of Seals, Konoha's most precious treasure, had been stolen!
This infuriated Danzo, but there was nothing he could do.
Under those circumstances, all available combat forces had been sent to the battlefield. There had been no spare manpower to watch over such things.
And against the Jashin Cult's people, Danzo did not believe sending a few more Jonin would have made any difference.
Fortunately, Konoha still had a backup copy of the Book of Seals, so it had not lost all of its precious ninjutsu.
Besides assessing losses and accelerating reconstruction, another important task for Danzo was comforting the major ninja clans and the families of the many fallen ninja.
