"Old man Third, I want to post a mission to the Land of Bears!"
Fuyuki was no stranger to the mission hall. He walked in like he owned the place and immediately asked the Third's Shadow Clone to post a mission.
"The Land of Bears?"
The Third took a puff from his pipe and frowned. "I might have a mission here that I'd like to assign to you."
"No, I'm going to the Land of Bears because I can capture powerful Summoned Beasts there. I'm not interested in missions. Whatever the client is paying, I'll pay him three times as much to get lost!" Fuyuki immediately put on the airs of a rich young master.
The Third fell silent for a moment, then said, "Fuyuki, you're not a little kid anymore. Riding my warhorse might be a bit embarrassing."
"Uh..." Fuyuki's swagger faltered. "Who's posting the mission?"
"Me." The Third looked helpless. "I have a mission for you. You need to reach the Land of Demons within a month and escort Miroku, the Shrine Maiden of the Land of Demons, to Konoha."
"The Land of Demons borders the Land of Bears. A month should be enough time for you to capture a Summoned Beast, right?"
The Shrine Maiden of the Land of Demons held a noble status. Konoha couldn't possibly send ordinary ninja to meet with her; it would be considered disrespectful.
The Third had originally wanted Kakashi to go, but Kakashi was about to clash with his students, so he probably wouldn't have time to leave the village anytime soon.
Fuyuki came from the Hyuga Clan, and he'd recently defeated Zabuza, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. Sending him to meet the Shrine Maiden of the Land of Demons was both fitting and a good way
