"For what?"
Hearing this, the man gave a mute laugh, as though he had heard something amusing.
He slightly raised those deep eyes and looked at Jiang Tian, his tone carrying a hint of teasing.
"Kid, I'm saving you."
"Saving me?"
Jiang Tian froze, his eyes full of confusion.
He truly did not understand what this Dao Lord before him was talking about.
However, he could at least be certain of one thing now—the Dao Lord seemed to harbor no ill will toward him.
If the man truly bore him ill will, Jiang Tian would likely have long since become a cold corpse, without even the chance to speak.
Jiang Tian asked in a deep voice, "What do you mean by that?"
"What do I mean?" The man lightly chuckled and murmured the words. His expression suddenly became somewhat dazed.
Upon that youthful face emerged the vicissitudes of someone who had passed through endless years and witnessed seas turn to mulberry fields.
His gaze seemed to pass through Jiang Tian, through this world, and drift toward some exceedingly distant place he could never return to.
His face was full of stories, his eyes full of memories.
The man remained lost in thought for an unknown length of time before slowly coming back to himself. Looking at Jiang Tian again, he said in a low voice, "Do you know of the Hundred Thousand Year Calamity?"
"Of course I do." Jiang Tian nodded.
He paused, then added, "I just do not know what this Hundred Thousand Year Calamity truly is.
"I only know that it is a calamity that descends once every hundred thousand years."
The man looked deeply moved and let out a long sigh. "Yes... a calamity. A calamity indeed."
As his words fell.
He raised a hand and waved.
