Wang Qi leaned against the bookcase, letting his thoughts drift.
The question Lu Xiaoqian had sent him yesterday had indeed shaken him.
For some unknown reason, this world's macroscopic theories were exceptionally advanced. Many branches of astrophysics were formidable, some even nearing Earth's level. Their models of relativity were more precise than Earth's as well. Wang Qi guessed that this might be because of the Immortal Path: the Immortal Alliance found astronomical observation more convenient, or perhaps the various telescopes created through spells were simply extraordinarily powerful.
Physics at the microscopic level, however, had progressed much more slowly. At subatomic scales, the disturbance caused by spiritual energy had become terrifyingly severe.
Wang Qi even felt that structures on a still smaller scale might take another ten or twenty years to be proposed.
Then again, that guess might not be accurate.
The development of physical theory often accompanied the development of mathematical theory, but mathematical theory was not the driving force behind physical theory. Mathematics was the "language" through which physics expressed itself. Without sufficient mathematical sophistication, many concepts in physics could not be properly articulated, but conjectures, ideas, and the like behind certain theories did not depend on mathematics developing first.
The internal driving force behind physics had always been "experiment."
Yet the existence of spiritual energy had added an extra condition to experiments in this universe for no reason at all. This condition, which did not exist on Earth, was also one of this universe's most fundamental physical laws. It was further disturbed by human consciousness, easily triggering anthropic phenomena and causing tremendous interference in many experiments. The more microscopic the thing, the greater the disturbance.
Wang Qi did not even dare imagine how bizarre matter in this universe would be below the Planck scale.
And the more macroscopic
