The First Stirring of the Heart

Wang Qi had once examined the Dao of the ancient methods from the perspective of a Modern Dharma Cultivator. For instance, the Five Elements of the Primordial and the End of Order were, to him, a kind of "increase in entropy," while the Five Primordial States were states of matter in motion.

Seen this way, the reverse was true as well.

The path of the modern methods might not be impossible to interpret through the thinking of the ancient methods.

What truly resisted the immortal path of the modern methods was the "dark side" and "negative side" sleeping within Gou Dabao's heart—the immortal who existed as his subconsciousness—not the surface consciousness of "him." Gou Dabao's current personality had no intention of rejecting the modern methods.

If Gou Dabao could be made to realize that the meaning of the modern methods was not wholly contrary to what lay within his subconscious, that science too possessed spirit and beauty, then perhaps his abysmal impression of modern cultivation could be improved somewhat, improving his cultivation as well.

However, after truly trying it, Wang Qi discovered that this was far more difficult than he had imagined.

To present one person's thoughts completely and perfectly to another person had always been an extremely difficult thing.

Why did the people of the Divine Land chant, "Had heaven not given birth to Newton, ten thousand ages would be like a long night"? It was because the system he perfected and the methods of proof he proposed allowed one person to pass the things they had thought in their entirety to another, using language to forge a means of communication that surpassed language itself.

That was a level higher than any "It cannot be spoken, it cannot be spoken," or "It does not fall upon lips and tongue."
