"Eat up, little one."
Nara Dan casually pointed at the rat monster that had been reduced to a pulp and spoke to the Chimera Ant Queen.
At this point, the Chimera Ant Queen had never eaten a human and did not understand human language. It was still pondering how to escape from this strange creature. Though the creature seemed incredibly powerful, the Chimera Ant Queen had no intention of giving up.
After all, its belly held the hope of its entire race—the Ant King!
This was a king born at the cost of every member of the Chimera Ant race. By expending an incalculable number of Chimera Ants to hunt countless Dark Continent Creatures, they had obtained vast quantities of flesh and genetic material.
Combined with the Chimera Ants' ability to consume other creatures' genes and pass them on to the next generation, this had produced the Ant King—a developing creature that gathered the traits of countless powerful beings from the Dark Continent.
The reason the Chimera Ant Queen had done all this was that it had realized the power of a species was too insignificant in the cruel Dark Continent.
What was more, the Chimera Ants were not a species that could multiply in great numbers. Because they consumed other creatures' genes, reproduction often demanded even more energy and food.
That left the Chimera Ants in an awkward position on the Dark Continent. Ordinary creatures did not dare attack them, but if they encountered a solitary B-rank creature of similar strength,
the entire colony would suffer a crushing blow.
That was why the Chimera Ant Queen had exhausted the strength of its entire species in hopes of creating the strongest Ant King.
With the strongest Ant King leading them, the Chimera Ants would surely survive for a long time
