Known as the Flying Axe Pirates, they were a crew whose captain wielded his axe with skill, while every other member was an expert at throwing flying axes.
The axes came down in a sweeping barrage, hurled with the strength of grown men. They could split mountains and shatter stone.
Ordinary small pirate crews and Marine warships alike couldn't withstand a volley from the Flying Axe Pirates at close or medium range.
"Fire!!"
At the Vice Captain's command,
each crew member gripped an axe in either hand and hurled them at full strength toward Nara Dan and Meru without hesitation.
The air filled with shrill whistles. When those spinning axes came crashing down, even armor made of hardened iron would be pierced!
"Father God."
"These guys seem to want to kill us."
"How rude."
Meru's adorable smile remained as bright as ever. She paid no heed to the sharp axes filling the sky.
"Can I eat them all?"
Nara Dan's expression didn't change either. The moment he saw the ship, its distinctive pirate flag and their talk of Devil Fruits made it clear to him which world they were in.
Nara Dan looked at Meru's blinking little eyes and understood.
The little one was clever. She knew Nara Dan felt differently about humans, and didn't consider them all to be food.
"Of course not. Humans aren't food to be eaten whenever you like."
Nara Dan shook his head. A flicker of disappointment crossed Meru's face.
"But if they're the sort with a lot of bloodlust and blood on their hands,"
"then you can do as you like."
Nara Dan smiled faintly, but his words were as cold as a god's.
Not feeding humans to her without cause was already a mercy born of his long socialization.
