Zhou Xuan waved a hand and withdrew the domain of nothingness.
The barrier dispersed. Ji Chen strode over, swept his gaze across A Gu, then looked away. He understood what had just happened.
"Get up," Zhou Xuan said coldly.
A Gu scrambled to his feet on all fours, his hands hanging at his sides and his head bowed so low that he did not dare take even an unnecessary breath.
"Who has lived the longest on this continent?" Zhou Xuan cut straight to the point. He needed someone to verify the Star Shepherd's dying words: "Find the divine tomb."
A Gu swallowed, rapidly sifting through everything he knew, not daring to conceal a thing.
"My master, the totem behind the High Priest was passed down from the far west." A Gu spoke quickly, enunciating clearly. "There is a Dead Marsh there, home to a tribe that never has any contact with the outside world. They call themselves the 'Immortals.'"
"Immortals," Zhou Xuan repeated.
"Rumor has it they never age or fall ill. Back then, the High Priest accidentally wandered into the outskirts of the Dead Marsh and picked up a bone fragment. That was how he cultivated the power of the totem," A Gu added.
Ji Chen stepped forward.
"My master, the laws of the wildlands are incomplete. Anyone claiming immortality here must have been tainted by forbidden power from a higher dimension." Ji Chen turned it over in his mind as he spoke. "This tribe may be connected to the seal beneath the Heavenly Abyss, or even other things Supreme One left behind all those years ago. But whether it is true remains uncertain. We must guard against a trap."
He paused and glanced at A Gu.
"How much of his story can we trust?" Ji Chen asked Zhou
