The first Global Future Technology Summit was held in Singapore. More than three thousand people from over a hundred countries and regions attended.
Those present were, for the most part, leading figures in their respective scientific fields.
Scientific research was becoming increasingly difficult. Developing a new technology or theory could easily take seven or eight years, or even twenty or thirty. Those who became giants in the scientific world were generally older than the next.
Thus, as soon as the conference began, reporters' cameras captured countless white heads and shiny heads.
The white heads belonged to elderly scientists with snowy hair. The shiny heads belonged to bald scientists, their barren scalps reflecting the venue lights like lightbulbs.
Only one black-haired head stood out from the crowd.
The reporters' cameras instinctively focused on it, wanting to see who it belonged to.
Chen Zhao!
Chen Zhao's seat was not even below with the rest of the attendees. He sat at a small table in the center of the venue, one of the three conference hosts. Beside him sat Professor Ivan, a Russian rocket expert, and Professor Shelley, a biologist from North America. Both were bald.
Ivan and Shelley both stared at Chen Zhao's hair, unable to hide the envy in their eyes.
At the start of the conference came the usual grandiose speeches. Ivan, Shelley, and Chen Zhao took turns reading from their scripts.
The scripts had been prepared by the organizers in advance. The three hosts were merely emotionless script-reading machines.
The content was the usual routine: congratulating the conference on its opening, stressing conference discipline, thanking everyone for coming, and outlining the conference agenda.
Ivan cleared his throat and spoke English with a thick, rolling accent. "It is a great honor to host this conference..."
The scientists below listened attentively.
