He did not speak again, simply carrying the green lantern as he walked forward.
Slowly, the wind and snow grew lighter and lighter, until heaven and earth fell into absolute silence. Holding the green lantern, the man arrived at a riverbank. Strangely, the overwhelming snow had vanished without a trace at some unknown moment, leaving not a single bit behind.
Both banks of the rolling great river were seas of blood-red flowers, stretching along the shores until the beginning and end of the great river disappeared from sight. The river water was a turbid grayish-yellow, and the sound of the churning waves was endless, sounding extremely much like the wailing of countless wronged souls, terrifying to the extreme.
A wooden bridge spanned the river, and right at the head of the bridge on the opposite bank seemed to be a place like a tea shed, where a person who looked like an old crone was sitting on a stone boiling something.
The man stopped on this side of the bridge and abruptly released the green lantern, yet the green lantern did not fall; instead, it hovered suspended in midair.
"Go..." the man whispered.
The green lantern rocked and swayed, yet shook its candle flame down onto the ground, whereupon it too tumbled to the earth.
The candle flame did not extinguish upon hitting the ground, but instead surged in an instant. A flash of brightness, and the starry speck of candle flame vanished, yet there appeared a little girl in red. Only, this girl was somewhat translucent and illusory, unlike a real person.
The man gazed at this lass in red as vibrant as blood, his expression somewhat infatuated. He smiled softly, extending a hand out of pity to stroke her face—it was ice-cold.
