"I'll pay you back when I have the time," Olson said as she handed over the phone.

Tang Tian nodded.

Being polite at a time like this would only make Olson uncomfortable. A straightforward nod was the best response.

He thought about how he had tried to get Olson's phone number from Lucy earlier without success, and now Olson had given it to him herself.

Just then, a long whistle blew, and the slow-moving subway finally arrived.

The two quickly boarded, and got off at their respective stops.

Once he was on the bus back to UConn, Tang Tian couldn't help but smile as he replayed the recent events in his mind.

UConn's win against Marquette University gave the team a much-needed breather, but it was just one game in a long regular season.

Time entered December, and the schedule became a bit more packed compared to November.

UConn's first game in December was against a fierce rival, Providence College, boasting Shabazz Napier.

The game started off intensely. Tang Tian came off the bench again in the first half, perfectly executing Coach Cahoon's assignment to shut down Napier.

At halftime, UConn led their opponents 37-31.

But in the second half, everything changed. Napier scored 8 consecutive points right at the start. Even with Tang Tian on the court, Cahoon couldn't stop him; he had completely gone off.

In the end, Napier scored 39 points for the game, setting a new single-game scoring record for the Big East Conference's new season. He helped his team narrowly defeat UConn 73-67.

Despite the loss, UConn's morale remained high. If Napier hadn't gone on his scoring rampage, they would have definitely won the game.

After that, they played consecutive games against the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Villanova Wildcats, and the Pittsburgh Panthers.

They won all three of those games.

After a record of 2 wins and 4 losses, they went on a three-game winning streak, improving their record to 5 wins and 4 losses.

While not great, it was at least respectable.

Tang Tian also received around 25 minutes of playing time in those three games.

He could clearly feel Coach Cahoon's trust in him growing steadily.
