By the time Lei Lin emerged from the laboratory, he had two bottles of potion in his hands.
Both were awakening potions he had developed. One was made from the blood of a ninth-rank Black Dragon, and the other from Silver Dragon Blood from the Saint Realm.
"Studying bloodlines is important, but it's not something that can be done in a short time. I still need to get close to Lin Lei, the protagonist."
Lei Lin hurried to Ernst Magic Academy. Ignoring the enthusiastic greetings along the way, he went straight to Lin Lei's dormitory.
"Um, you are..."
"Leilin Zi'ao, the greatest magical genius in history!"
Looking at Reynolds, who was beaming with excitement, Lei Lin said, "Yes, I'm Lei Lin. You're Reynolds, right? That little fellow Lin Lei has told me about you."
"But let's not talk about me being the greatest genius in history. I've heard it so often along the way that my ears are practically numb."
"Besides, anyone who can study at Ernst Magic Academy has plenty of talent. Maybe one day, you'll have a sudden flash of insight and surpass me."
Lei Lin didn't know much about the other students at Ernst Magic Academy, but as Lin Lei's roommate, he'd certainly paid attention to Reynolds and the others.
Aside from Yale, who'd gotten in through connections, George and Reynolds both had extraordinary talent.
One would reach the Saint Realm through his own efforts, and the other would become a god.
There was no harm in getting to know them!
"By the way, is Lin Lei here? I'm looking for him."
Reynolds said happily, "Oh, you're here to see Lin Lei? He's at the back mountain. I'll take you there!"
But George, standing beside him, stopped him and looked at Lei Lin. "What do you want with our third brother?"
George wasn't as carefree as Reynolds. Rather than take Lei Lin straight to the back mountain to find Lin Lei, he first asked why Lei Lin had come.
Lei Lin wasn't about to tell them outright that he was researching the Dragonblood Potion.
Instead, he briefly talked about Lin Lei and Beibei, as well as a few amusing stories from their training in the Magic Beast Mountain Range.
Once he'd made it clear that he knew Lin Lei and meant no harm, the two of them took him to see Lin Lei.
The three chatted and laughed along the way. George tactfully tried to ask for information about Lin Lei, while Reynolds was more interested in how many noble ladies had set their sights on Lin Lei now that he was famous.
When they found Lin Lei training at the back mountain, Reynolds went straight up and punched him. "Third Brother, you're really not fair! You've had so many interesting experiences while training in the Magic Beast Mountain Range, and you never told us about them."
"And you didn't even introduce Lei Lin, the greatest genius in the history of the continent, to us!"
That was student life for you—so innocent. They'd hit it off so quickly that they were already calling each other brothers.
Lin Lei glanced at Lei Lin and immediately understood what had happened.
He'd told Yale and the others a few minor stories about the Magic Beast Mountain Range, using a rather selective version of events. He'd left out all the darker parts.
After all, Reynolds and the others came from distinguished families, and their families had already arranged their paths to success. They didn't need to go through life-and-death trials in the Magic Beast Mountain Range like he did.
If he told them too much about his training there, they might get excited and decide to try it themselves. That would be a problem.
He suspected that if he hadn't been lucky enough to meet Lei Lin, he might already have died beneath Nina's blade.
Of course, in Lin Lei's stories, Lei Lin was just a friend he'd made in the Magic Beast Mountain Range.
He'd wanted to introduce Lei Lin to Reynolds and the others, but the last few times he'd visited the Zi'ao Family estate, the steward had told him Lei Lin was busy conducting experiments.
Lin Lei hadn't asked Lei Lin what he thought about it, so the matter had never gone any further.
He hadn't expected Lei Lin to come looking for them today!
Lin Lei simply ignored the matter of their training in the Magic Beast Mountain Range and shrugged. "I wanted to introduce you to Lei Lin, too, but he was busy conducting experiments before."
Then Lin Lei turned to Lei Lin and asked, "Big Brother Lei Lin, did you receive what I sent you?"
The Dragonblood Secret Manual was, after all, a treasured heirloom of the Baruch Family. Even though it was only a copy, Lin Lei still considered it very valuable.
Lei Lin nodded. "I did. Honestly, it's been a great help with my research."
"Well, I've brought you a gift in return." As he spoke, he took out the two vials of bloodline potion he'd prepared.
He'd only learned that Lin Lei had visited him during the old steward's most recent routine report. The steward had never considered it important enough to mention before.
Lei Lin had been speechless at the time and wanted to go see Lin Lei right away, but his bloodline experiment had reached a crucial stage, so he'd had to put it off until today.
Before Lin Lei could say anything, Beibei grew interested. He hopped onto Lei Lin's hand and stared at the two vials of bloodline potion, squeaking.
Squeak, squeak~ (Boss, is this potion any good?)
Lei Lin couldn't understand Beibei's squeaks and had no idea what he was saying. He just thought Beibei looked adorable, so he casually took out a seventh-rank Magic Core for him to snack on.
Lin Lei ignored Beibei and said with a trembling voice, "Big Brother Lei Lin, can this really..."
"Ahem." Before Lin Lei could finish, Lei Lin cut him off. "I can't guarantee it. But even if it fails, trying it will at least let me collect some data."
As he spoke, he glanced at Reynolds and George beside him. The fact that Lin Lei was a Dragonblood Warrior wasn't exactly a secret, but it wasn't something trivial, either.
Given Reynolds, George, and Lin Lei's relationship, they'd certainly keep it secret if they knew.
Still, the fewer people who knew, the better. It might leak out by accident otherwise!
George was perceptive enough to realize the two vials might be something special, but he didn't ask. Reynolds, being more straightforward, simply asked, "Big Brother Lei Lin, what kind of potion is that? It feels like something special!"
Lei Lin smiled. "Dragonblood Potion. Well, it's a simplified version that I made myself."
"As long as you can withstand the agony of dragon blood burning through your body, it can greatly strengthen your physique!"
"You seem a little weak, kid. Want to give it a try? This potion works wonders in that department!"
At the mention of the agony of dragon blood burning through his body, Reynolds instinctively took two steps back.
As magicians, they were familiar with the properties of dragon blood, a high-level magical material.
Dragon blood was mentioned in all sorts of novels, too. If you ignored its value, it could easily be used as an instrument of torture.
So even when he heard it worked wonders in that department, he was only a little tempted.
"Big Brother Lei Lin, I think I'm still young. I don't need something like this yet!"
Seeing Reynolds's fearful expression, Lei Lin raised his eyebrows and laughed. "Hahaha! If I ever feel like it, I'll develop a painless version just for you. I'm sure you'll need it!"
Reynolds's eyes immediately lit up. "Big Brother Lei Lin, if you really manage to develop a painless version, you have to save a bottle for me!"
