Ch. 301A Godly Body Shakes the Universe, Alien Races Plot Its Destruction
Key plot points and events
- Alien soul-enslavement spies embedded in Human territory report the emergence of the Lord of Peace and Joy, a Universe Master with a godly body as vast as the Lord of Nine Serenities’ and the ability to create avatars. His body also lets him resurrect many Venerables, making him a major strategic asset to humanity.
- Ten years later, the Machine, Monster, and Zerg supreme beings meet to plan his assassination. They judge that a direct attack would be difficult and could trigger a costly war among the peak races.
- The Mechanical Progenitor proposes two options: have the Zerg Queen, Meng Cha, seduce and weaken or enslave Tang Ping, or hire a solitary Universe Supreme Being to kill him. The Queens reject the first option as beneath their dignity and agree to pool three Top-tier Supreme Treasures apiece to fund an assassin.
- In the Solar System, Tang Ping stays inside the Platinum Temple, wary of the threat. His Nether Sea is exceptionally well protected, but his distant avatars—especially the one in the Solar System—are more vulnerable.
- Tang Ping claims his confinement is a sacrifice for humanity, while secretly indulging his eccentric “Photography Dao” hobby by examining his maid Yingluo’s feet. He persuades her that he is lonely and trapped for the race; moved by his apparent sacrifice, she offers to let him continue.
Character developments and interactions
- Tang Ping is powerful and cautious about assassination, but also playful, self-indulgent, and manipulative. He frames his confinement as heroic duty to win Yingluo’s sympathy and cooperation.
- Yingluo, initially puzzled and embarrassed by Tang Ping’s unusual request, comes to believe he has given up freedom for humanity. Her sympathy leads her to accommodate him.
- The Mechanical Progenitor takes the lead in organizing the plot against Tang Ping, presenting the assassination as a practical bargain.
- The Zerg Queen and Monster supreme being prioritize their dignity and personal ambitions over direct confrontation, but agree that eliminating Tang Ping is worth the price.
Significant themes
- Power and vulnerability: Tang Ping’s immense body and defenses make him formidable, yet his separated avatars remain potential targets.
- Espionage and strategic rivalry: Enslaved spies turn humanity’s own surveillance network into a channel for enemy intelligence.
- Sacrifice versus self-interest: Tang Ping presents himself as sacrificing for his race, while the rival supreme beings weigh the cost of assassination against their own status and goals.
- Comedic contrast and manipulation: The grand language of cosmic war contrasts with Tang Ping’s absurd hobby and his theatrical attempt to enlist Yingluo’s sympathy.
