While Kushida Kikyo was still lost in fantasies about manipulating Horikita, the loudspeaker on the upper deck suddenly crackled to life. Its cold announcement cut straight through her thoughts.
"Attention. The school has just sent an exam email to all students via their Terminals. Please check whether you have received it and follow the instructions.
If you have not received an email, please contact your class homeroom teacher, who will report the matter to the school.

No one had expected a new exam to arrive so suddenly, with only a few days of rest behind them.
An exam?
Uesugi Hara immediately pulled out his Terminal. Sure enough, two unread emails had appeared on the screen.
He opened the first email. "A Special Exam will be held soon. Please gather in the designated room at the specified time. Arriving more than ten minutes late will result in a penalty."
It was clearly a mass email, and its only purpose was to announce that there would be an exam.
He immediately opened the second email. This one contained more specific information: "Please gather in Room 214 on the second floor at six o'clock this evening. Since the process will take some time, please take care of any personal matters and set your Terminal to vibrate or turn it off before coming to the gathering."
Clearly, the second email was personalized. Each participant might have been given a different gathering time and location.
Uesugi Hara turned off his Terminal and considered the matter. Another Special Exam? We're gathering at six, and there's still some time before then. It looks like the meeting is just to explain the exam itself. The actual exam probably comes later.
