Background / History

Sudo is among Class D’s lowest-scoring students. He spends time with Ike and Yamauchi, and the three seek help before the midterm exams. At Horikita Suzune’s study session, Sudo gives up on the problems and says he would rather play basketball. The session ends in a confrontation: he throws a punch at Horikita, but Ayanokoji Kiyotaka catches his wrist before it lands 109 114 116 117.

A later dispute with Class C basketball club members Ishizaki, Komiya, and Kondo leads to a school hearing. Sudo says they took him to a secluded location, demanded that he give up his place as a regular player, and pushed him before he fought back. With no eyewitness or physical evidence to establish who started the violence, Class D cannot prove his account. Sudo is placed in solitary confinement, and the class loses points; many classmates blame him for their resulting shortage 142 147 159 160 161.

During the uninhabited-island exam, Sudo charges at Dongfang Yi to recover Horikita’s class leader card. Dongfang repeatedly evades his punches, then pins him at the edge of a stream. The encounter leaves Sudo afraid of Dongfang’s strength and less confident in his own ability to settle conflicts by force 198 200 213.

He is loyal to people he considers friends, but slow to recognize when that trust is misplaced. Even after Ike and Yamauchi publicly distance themselves from him over the Class C fight, he believes their private assurances of support. He turns to Horikita and Ayanokoji for help with his case, and his feelings for Horikita make him reluctant to contradict her in public 147 200.
