While adventurers feared the power of dragonkind, they often dreamed of riding dragons themselves.
Daniel was merely one of those countless ordinary people.
But as he chased after the wyverns now, it was not for any dream, but to seek shelter.
Night was about to fall.
The Blacksoil Plain was like two different worlds by day and by night.
Once night fell, the desolate Blacksoil Plain would be swallowed by terror.
Powerful wyvern riders could help them survive what was sure to be a difficult night.
"Daniel, how much farther?"
As the sky grew darker and darker, Congreve jogged up from the rear and asked quietly.
"If we really can't catch up, why don't we camp here?"
Monica spoke with concern as well.
A standard adventuring party usually consisted of three to five people. Daniel, Congreve, and Monica were each the captains of their respective parties.
The three had led their teams and temporarily joined forces in Blackstone Town, the town closest to the border, forming a party of twelve to accept an escort commission for a merchant caravan headed to the Free City.
Though Daniel's adventuring party had only three members, it was the strongest of the three parties. Thus, he became the leader of this temporary group.
However, the caravan's cargo was several times heavier than expected, greatly slowing the group's pace. Combined with several encounters along the way, they had failed to leave the Blacksoil Plain even after an entire day of travel!
Daniel turned to glance at Monica, whose skin was rough but whose figure was alluring, and said firmly, "I'm certain I saw those five wyverns showing signs of landing. They must be somewhere not far ahead. As long as we can obtain the wyvern riders' protection..."
A trace of gloom flashed through Congreve's eyes.
