The autumn sunlight still carried a trace of warmth as students in uniform walked along the four roads between the tower and the cafeteria, their conversations brimming with excitement.
Although the students possessed a strong sense of collective honor and greatly envied those able to compete, objectively speaking, they were ultimately outsiders to the matches.
Before the official matches began, all they needed to do as spectators was fully enjoy the atmosphere of the competition about to start.
The last time there had been an event on this scale had been the last time.
The newly enrolled first-years were fortunate as well. After only a little over a month of exposure to Magic Guidance duels, they could already watch competitions and enjoy a feast for the eyes and ears.
Last week's opening ceremony had merely been a warm-up. This week's main event marked the true beginning of the competition.
It was not only Saint Marian Academy. Nearly every Magic Guidance Academy across the continent was organizing its students to enter the venues.
The academies participating in this Academy Championship, in particular, attached extraordinary importance to today's matches.
Once the students of each academy learned that their voices could be transmitted through the spatial hubs within the venues directly to the competitors' ears, their anticipation only grew stronger.
Compared to the opening ceremony, the arrangements for the day of the main event were clearly much more formal. The academies had even formed official cheerleading squads, determined not to lose in momentum outside the arena.
Spectators outside the student body had also made preparations well in advance. Even if they had failed to secure tickets for the venues themselves, they had reserved seats at the various viewing plazas.
