As dusk fell, the lights in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's Council Hall were dim.
At that moment...
Ning Shan, the current sect master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, stood in the middle of the hall.
He wasn't looking out at the scenery beyond the windows. Instead, he glared at his son, Ning Feng, and roared, "Say that again."
Ning Feng stood his ground, his back ramrod straight and showing no sign of backing down. "I'm going to the Body Sect. I'm not going to Shrek with Ning Tian."
"What on earth is going through your head?"
Ning Shan stepped forward and pointed at Ning Feng's nose as he cursed him out:
"Shrek Academy is the best academy on the continent. That's been accepted as fact for thousands of years."
"How many geniuses have fought tooth and nail to get in? And you? They're holding out an invitation to you, but not only are you refusing it—you want to go to the Body Sect?"
"Ning Feng, is there something wrong with your head?"
But Ning Feng immediately shot back:
"That's what you think, Father."
"In your eyes, Shrek is the only legitimate choice. It's everything."
"But in my eyes, Shrek isn't nearly as good as the Body Sect!"
"Especially when it comes to Body Martial Souls!"
Ning Shan flew into a rage.
"Shut up!"
"Have you forgotten the glory of our ancestor Ning Rongrong from ten thousand years ago? The Shrek Seven Devils of her generation all became gods!"
"And what gives the Body Sect the right to compare itself to Shrek?"
"Shrek can provide you with the finest education, and it can give you connections."
"You'll meet countless prodigies there, which will benefit your future. But can the Body Sect offer you any of that?"
Ning Feng shook his head.
"Father, what happened with our ancestor Ning Rongrong was ten thousand years ago."
"Times have changed. Stop dragging up the past as if it still applies."
"And besides..."
"The Body Sect specializes in teaching Body Martial Souls."
"When it comes to that, there isn't a single other force on the Douluo Continent that can compare."
"I have Innate Full Soul Power. I'm twelve years old, and already at Soul Power Level 30. My Martial Soul is Three Heads and Six Arms, a top-tier Body Martial Soul."
"If I join the Body Sect, the sect will give me its full support."
"But if you make me study at Shrek, I'll be ruined."
"That overrated, rotten academy won't be able to teach me a thing!"
Ning Shan's face turned livid.
"Where did you get all this nonsense?"
"When did Shrek become inferior to the Body Sect?"
He continued trying to reason with Ning Feng:
"Do you know that the Body Sect once clashed head-on with Shrek?"
"And what was the result? The Body Sect lost."
"Doesn't that tell you anything?"
"If the Body Sect were truly that powerful, it wouldn't have lost to Shrek back then."
"And as for specializing in teaching Body Martial Souls, that's just bragging."
"Have you heard of the Body Sect producing a single talented disciple all these years?"
"Father, you're impossible!" Ning Feng couldn't take it anymore.
He thought Ning Shan was an old stick in the mud. No matter how hard Ning Feng argued, it was useless.
So he had no desire to keep talking to him.
Ning Shan apparently felt the same way.
He glared at Ning Feng for a long while, then snorted. "You're the one who's impossible."
Then Ning Shan gestured to the guards outside the door. "Take him to the Confinement Room. Without my orders, no one is to let him out, and no one is to give him any food."
"He can come out when he's come to his senses."
Two guards came forward and seized Ning Feng, one on each side.
Ning Feng didn't struggle. He knew that, in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect as it was now, resisting would be pointless.
So he followed the guards out of the hall and was taken to the stone chamber deep within the sect.
Bang!
The Confinement Room's heavy door swung shut with a dull clang.
There were no windows inside, only a tiny ventilation hole. The walls were built from special Dark Iron Rock and were exceptionally sturdy.
Even a Soul Master at the Soul Ancestor level would have a hard time breaking out from the inside without special means.
Ning Shan had deliberately locked Ning Feng in here.
Soon,
Darkness swallowed the room.
Ning Feng sat on the stone bed in the corner and closed his eyes.
He really had been reincarnated into this world.
He knew exactly where things stood: his younger sister, Ning Tian, was about to start studying at Shrek, and the story of this world was just beginning.
As someone who had crossed over, he knew better than anyone what Shrek Academy really was.
It was a massive brainwashing center and a place to harvest leeks!
Just look at Huo Yuhao in the original story. What a good kid he'd been when he first entered Shrek Academy—so innocent and kind.
But after a few years of studying at Shrek, what had he become?
He'd even blown up Mingdu!
And that was nothing compared to the stench of an organization like the Shrek Inspectorate.
There was no way he was going to that wretched place.
Time passed, second by second.
Ning Feng opened his eyes and looked toward the only ventilation hole.
Moonlight streamed in, illuminating a small patch of the room.
The sound of the guards on patrol had already faded. It was the dead of night.
He stood and walked over to the wall.
"Hmph. Father, if you won't listen to reason, then there's no point in talking."
"Do you really think this Confinement Room can hold me?"
He took a deep breath and focused his mind. Soul Power began surging within him.
In an instant, a powerful aura burst from his body.
The phantom of his Three Heads and Six Arms Martial Soul appeared behind him, then merged with his body.
Two extra heads grew from his shoulders, and two extra arms extended from beneath each armpit, leaving six arms hanging at his sides.
The level 30 Soul Power instantly filled the cramped stone chamber.
Two Soul Rings, one yellow and one purple, rose beneath his feet, their glow lighting up the gloomy room.
"First Soul Skill, Three Saints Suppress the World."
At his low shout, all three of Ning Feng's heads opened their eyes at once, each looking in a different direction.
Soul Power began to course wildly through his six arms.
His muscles swelled instantly, and the boost from his Soul Power increased all his attributes by forty percent.
But he didn't stop there. He immediately activated his second Soul Skill.
"Second Soul Skill, Six Paths Control Heaven."
All six arms swung at once. The still air seemed to churn, forming a visible vortex.
His strength surged by eighty percent in an instant, and his six fists gathered an immense amount of Soul Power.
Ning Feng didn't use an ordinary attack. He drew on all the Soul Power in his body and focused it into the three arms on his right side, while using the three arms on his left to brace himself with precise control.
"Six Extremes Heaven-Collapsing Force."
It was a technique he had created himself.
He had practiced fist techniques since childhood and had become quite skilled, so a few years ago, he had successfully created his own Self-Created Soul Skill.
Now he focused his will into his fists and struck the same point on the wall with pinpoint accuracy, all at once.
"Boom!"
The impact exploded through the Confinement Room.
The Dark Iron Rock wall shuddered. Stone chips flew everywhere, and a fist-sized crater appeared in it.
Cracks quickly spread from there, webbing across the entire wall.
Without hesitation, Ning Feng slammed six more punches into the center of the cracks.
The wall collapsed completely, and rubble scattered across the floor.
Night air rushed through the hole.
Ning Feng glanced outside. The trees on the sect's rear mountain were just visible.
Without hesitation, he squeezed through the hole and quickly vanished into the night.
"If you won't agree with me, then I'll leave home."
He looked back toward the sect and silently vowed:
"I'll come back once I've made something of myself. Then, Father, you'll know who was right."
The next morning, sunlight fell across the dining table of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
Ning Shan sat at the head of the table, looking exhausted.
He clearly hadn't slept well the night before because of Ning Feng.
"Ah..."
He took a sip of tea and looked at Ning Tian, seated across from him.
"Ning Tian, go to the Confinement Room after breakfast."
"Try to talk some sense into your brother."
"He's always doted on you. He might listen if you talk to him."
"The Body Sect may be all right, but how could it compare to Shrek? If you can go to Shrek, then of course Shrek is the better choice."
Ning Tian nodded. She quickly finished breakfast and set down her utensils. "All right, Father. I'll go talk to him."
Ning Tian stood and hurried toward the Confinement Room.
She actually agreed with her father.
After all, Shrek Academy was the best academy on the Douluo Continent. How could there be anything wrong with going there?
So she genuinely wanted to try to talk her brother around.
But to her surprise, when she reached the Confinement Room, she found a huge hole smashed into its sturdy wall.
Ning Tian was completely stunned.
After standing there in a daze for a long while, she hurried back to find Ning Shan.
"Father, something's wrong!"
