Appearance
- Elderly but agile: He rises from the ground with none of the sluggishness Ning Feng expects from an old man 8.
- Sharp eyes: He closely observes Ning Feng’s lightning-tempering performance from a concealed slope behind the mountain 13.
- Gruff, powerful voice: His laughter is loud enough to make the stone pillars of the Sect Master Hall tremble slightly 8.
Personality
Du Busi is blunt, informal, and openly dismissive of Shrek Academy. He enthusiastically approves of Ning Feng’s decision to choose the Body Sect instead, and values the boy’s ruthless determination as much as his unusual martial soul 8 13.
He believes disciples must experience genuine danger rather than remain sheltered cultivators. Royal status does not excuse anyone from sect duties: he insists that Vina be treated as a Body Sect disciple, not as a princess entitled to special protection. Nevertheless, his commitment to practical training has limits; when a mission becomes substantially more dangerous than expected, he orders reinforcements rather than insisting the novices continue unaided 15 22.
Sect Leadership
Du Busi presents the Body Sect’s obligations and benefits as an explicit exchange: disciples serve when the sect or empire needs them, while the sect supplies their cultivation resources and ensures their work is rewarded 8.
| Policy | Details |
|---|---|
| Mission duty | Disciples must undertake assigned missions and act when the Heaven Dou Empire requires their help 8. |
| Private affairs | Outside that obligation, the sect does not interfere in disciples’ personal matters 8. |
| Cultivation support | Disciples receive high-quality soul beast meat for all three daily meals 8. |
| Access to instruction | Du Busi and available elders offer guidance; disciples may study combat techniques freely in the Scripture Pavilion 8. |
| Compensation | Sufficient mission service earns royal rewards, including money and titles; disciples are not expected to risk their lives for nothing 8. |
| Equal responsibilities | Vina’s position as princess does not exempt her from sect rules, a condition Du Busi says he had already explained to the Emperor 15. |

History
Accepting Ning Feng
Vina brings Ning Feng to Du Busi after helping him obtain his third soul ring. Learning that Ning Feng rejected Shrek specifically to seek out the Body Sect delights Du Busi. The demonstration of Three Heads and Six Arms then leaves him astonished: he circles Ning Feng twice before confirming its body characteristics and accepting him into the sect. He explains the membership terms and asks Vina to arrange accommodation and show the newcomer around 8.
Du Busi later watches Ning Feng’s first lightning-tempering session alongside an elder. The boy’s willpower and willingness to endure the training strengthen his confidence in the new recruit 13.
The Mission Readiness Test
Du Busi selects Ning Feng, Vina, and Mu Xue for an Evil Soul Master suppression mission. Elder Li objects to sending an inexperienced team without a veteran escort, but Du Busi argues that the reported enemies’ lower cultivation makes the assignment suitable. He reluctantly agrees to a preliminary test and orders the trio to attack the elder at full strength, even with killing intent 15.
During the test, Du Busi complains that Elder Li’s level-thirty soul-power restriction does not remove the advantage of his level-92 Titled Douluo physique. When Ning Feng nevertheless pushes the elder back and enters Unity of Heaven and Man, Du Busi turns the assessment into a cultivation opportunity, directing the elder to support the boy’s breakthrough 16 17 18.
Great Rock Forest Mission
After the trio passes, Du Busi briefs them on a reported group of seven or eight Evil Soul Masters operating in Great Rock Forest. He warns that their unusual methods cannot be judged by ordinary standards and explicitly requires everyone to return safely 18.
He initially reassures the anxious Elder Li that Ning Feng’s abilities are sufficient. An urgent royal report changes the situation: another, stronger group is operating near the same forest. Du Busi agrees to send disciples to retrieve the novices and eliminate the threat, though he later prevents Elder Li from rushing out personally, maintaining that the trio should at least be able to escape if outmatched 21 22 24.
When the team returns safely, Du Busi learns that they have already eliminated the stronger group. He praises Ning Feng’s performance, warns him against complacency, and arranges for mission rewards to be delivered to their residences 25.
Relationships
- Ning Feng — A promising sect disciple whom he accepts personally. Du Busi admires his determination, supports his enlightenment, and entrusts him with practical missions 8 13 18.
- Elder Li — A fellow sect leader whose protective caution frequently clashes with his training philosophy. Their arguments include familiar teasing, but they cooperate when the disciples face an unexpectedly serious threat 15 18 22.

- Mu Xue — A disciple assigned to the mission team with Vina and Ning Feng; included in both his readiness assessment and subsequent retrieval order 15 22.
- The Emperor — The royal authority with whom Du Busi established that Vina would follow Body Sect rules despite her title 15.
