The gathering broke up.
The room returned to silence.
Only the three witches who had matches to fight—Jiang Han, Histeria, and Du Lingxuan—remained curled up on the sofa like three Cat Lamps huddling together for warmth.
Chen Ligu said nothing. Considerately, she walked out, waving a hand as she did so.
"Twenty-four hours a day, I'm at your service. If you need anything, just send me a message, or come out and call for me."
She knew all three of them needed time to calm down.
Jiang Han wore a strained smile and thanked her.
She weakly waved a paw.
"Thanks, sister."
Clunk.
The door shut.
Jiang Han pursed her lips and glanced at Xiya.
Xi Fu was not doing much better either. She had to face Agatha—an utterly terrifying prospect. Agatha was a witch with the strength to take the championship.
"Should we take the opportunity to hold a losers' banquet?"
Jiang Han cracked a joke, climbed down from the sofa, and dug a huge pile of fuzzy blankets out of a cabinet packed with Cat Lamps, tossing them to the other two.
"Sisters, I think we still have a chance. We still have a chance..."
Du Lingxuan muttered as she curled herself into one of the blankets.
Jiang Han forced a smile.
"True. You two still have a chance."
Xiya opened her mouth, but not a single word came out. She merely sighed.
"More bad news: all the top Ghost Witches I know have matches to fight and preparations of their own, so there's no way I can hold a second training camp for you. For these five days, me, you, and you will all have to study the intel ourselves, get some rest, and wait quietly for the matches. Oh, if you two still have spare money,
