For Eve Harkins, going shopping with someone else was a rather rare occurrence.
She watched the tiny Cat Han dart back and forth between the various treasure chests.
She watched her haggle over every last scrap, saying things like, "Sister, you really shouldn't buy this thing. Look at your Wisdom Stele fragment—it's way too fragmented."
"Meow-ow! It was already broken!"
The Mist Immortal Catgirl shopkeeper huffed angrily, twitching her whiskers two or three times in a row as she pointed at the Wisdom Stele fragment inside the chest. "This is loot from a Hunting Giant Cat Lamp! She personally stole it out from among more than a thousand archers!"
Every week, Hunting Giant Cat Lamps could randomly teleport to a location containing [Loot Cats Like, Loot Witches Like]. Many of the strange tools found in the hands of Witches and giant cats came from their spoils.
The only reason Eve Harkins knew this was because Ghost Castle had fifteen Ghost Hunting Giant Cats. Every week, they brought out heaps of bizarre items to trade with her for resources.
But they were not as interesting as Mist Immortal Cats.
Eve stroked her chin, looking at the Mist Immortal Giant Catgirl, who was almost indistinguishable from a Witch, before quietly glancing at the Ghost Giant Cat selecting [Scholar Magic Stones]... This time, she reined in her gaze and did not let the cat notice. Still, she had never expected giant cats—those plump, seemingly broad-minded and well-fed creatures—to possess such a strong sense of rivalry.
The Ghost Giant Cat was staring wide-eyed, muttering, "Scholar Magic Stone, Scholar Magic Stone... Meow-ow! Cat wants to become a scholarly cat too!"
In Eve's view, though, such competitiveness was entirely unnecessary.
While Cat Lamps often produced the occasional unusually bookish Cat Lamp, those were only exceptions.
"Eve~
