Angelite was up on the ladder. There was nothing much to say.
Thanks to the local-priority matchmaking system.
When queueing locally in the Eastern Isles, you would basically run into these witches.
The portal slowly opened, revealing a snowfield.
"Good thing it's a snowfield map."
Jiang Han let out a breath of relief. She genuinely couldn't fight Angelite on a plains map. She dared to face Angelite in tournaments because on Eightfold Island, she could directly retreat into the snowfields to open up distance. If things really went south, Angelite could put on a little show of her island-shattering divine art, sending everyone back to the starting line—while Angelite would be down 0.50 in spell deficit, and the fight could continue. But ladder rooms would not build large quantities of Eightfold Island maps. That would be far too costly.
Basically, they extracted each terrain type from Eightfold Island separately and used them as ladder duel rooms about one-tenth the size of Eightfold Island.
This saved a huge amount in costs, but it also made it difficult for many witches to deal with opponents they could normally handle in tournaments.
For example, the easiest way to fight Dragon Ragdoll was to duck into the woods and start building up.
But this ladder system meant that if you didn't roll a forest map against Dragon Ragdoll, you were basically starting at a blood disadvantage. Of course, if you did roll a forest map, then it was Dragon Ragdoll's free-points map. Angelite, meanwhile, was fierce on all eight maps—it was just that the snowfield was Jiang Han's strong map...
Tch.

That sounded a little inauspicious.
With a sigh, Jiang Han carried her lightsaber into the portal.
An environment so cold it practically froze the breath in one's lungs, A vicious blizzard
