Half-asleep, half-awake.
Jiang Han felt her body's balance slightly out of sorts. It was a dizzying imbalance she had never experienced again after becoming the Cat Lamp Witch, like she had downed two extra glasses of whiskey and was pleasantly drunk.
She opened her eyes.
There was no deliberately mysterious mist, darkness, or anything else before her—only a vast wilderness beneath a somewhat gloomy full moon.

Calmly, she swept her gaze across her surroundings.
She appeared to be at the exit of a canyon, standing on a rocky shelf beside a narrow pass.
Beside her were three witches who had only just woken up, still groggy.
Since they were all clad in thick protective suits, Jiang Han could not make out their expressions beneath diving helmets that looked strikingly like the Big Daddies from BioShock.
"You woke up that quickly?"
Chen Ligu's voice.
Aside from their voices, witch nameplates hung from their protective suits to identify them.
"Huff—her magic power is the strongest among us, stronger than all of ours combined. Naturally, she woke up first. I suspect that if this weren't her first time coming in, she'd wake up the instant she closed and opened her eyes—huff—she probably wouldn't even get dizzy."
Chu Yujun's breathing came through the loudspeaker, exposing just how little exercise Chu Zi usually got. Jiang Han reckoned even Cat Lamps were more active than she was.
And yet, with that level of activity, she could still become a monk. Witches' bodies, bolstered by magic power, truly surpassed mortals.
"I'm fine."
After saying it, Jiang Han felt a little awkward. Speaking inside the protective suit felt somewhat like talking with both hands over her ears—she could clearly distinguish her own voice.
For the first time, she noticed that her speech carried a pronounced breathiness, along
