Casting aside the philosophical musings over turrets and gun mounts, Jiang Han immediately felt much more relaxed. Curiously, she examined the notebook open on Miss Qin Shunying's desk, its pages filled with things they needed to prepare.
Since the handwriting was clear and not written in code, Jiang Han could read it perfectly well:
"First item: sixty-six one-month-old Witch Eggs."
...Wait, wait, let me sort this out, sort this out! Covering her mouth, she asked, "W-What are those for?"
"Batteries, magic mist generators, and emergency rations." Qin Shunying answered while smoothly recording supplies.
Her casual attitude frightened Jiang Han.
That last use was clearly a problem, wasn't it?
Sitting beside them, Du Ningzhuang cautiously offered her opinion:
"If a rooster accidentally cracks an egg, the hen will gladly enjoy that unexpected meal."
That wasn't right! Jiang Han looked horrified.
Du Ningzhuang hurriedly added:
"Of course, we witches generally won't touch Witch Eggs unless we're starving to an extreme degree. But if you are going to eat them, I recommend scrambled egg whites with black pepper. Our eggs don't have yolks, only whites, so sometimes we fry them together with chicken eggs—double scrambled egg pancakes."
Li Yun chimed in as well:
"We occasionally cook with spent eggs after they've finished generating electricity, so witches are a race that can't starve to death. And Witch Egg shells are actually an extremely tough material. We've collected eggshells, ground them down, compressed them, and finally made them into tools..."
Du Ningzhuang said with great interest:
"Egg Picks—a multipurpose kind of pickaxe. They weigh only half a kilogram, yet they're sturdier and more durable than picks made of pure steel. But good Egg Picks are a little hard to get. They're priceless, with no stock on the market..."
"My family has one," Li Yun bragged.
