A Witch's mercenaries were rather different in concept from the mercenaries of other creatures.
In the multiverse, mercenaries often meant strong individual combat ability, less-than-ideal discipline, and unreliability when facing powerful foes.
But Witches were different. As the mercenaries least willing to leave their homes in the entire multiverse, nearly every one of those who specialized in combat had fought through countless battles—and won every one.
"Form ranks!" roared a Witch clad in powered armor.
They did not immediately fall back simply because the charging enemy was not targeting them. They conserved their strength not to flee more effectively, but to use it here.
Twenty Witches formed up neatly before Jiang Han, slamming massive tower shields into the ground. At the same time, they thrust long decapitation blades through the gaps between their shields, aiming them ahead.
The five Witches in the rear planted their decapitation blades into the ground and raised their hands toward the front.
"Ray of Exhaustion!"
Neat streams of brown spell rays shot out from behind the Witch shield wall.
A temporary commander among the Witches raised her hand high, then slashed it downward.
"Missile Storm, fire!"
The light within the Witch formation dimmed for an instant. Then, a sky-filling mass of fiery-red missiles burst forth like exploding red fireworks, blotting out the heavens! Even the rain seemed dyed the color of blood, while the sheer force of their flight tore shrieks from the air!
Jiang Han stared at the Missile Storm blanketing the sky. The vortex of magic within her suddenly released, gathering the aftermath of each spell.
"Replicate: Missile Storm."
In an instant, a tremendous amount of magic was drained away, and the form of the spell appeared once more before the Witches who had just unleashed Missile Storm.
The Witches did not panic.
