Draped in a yellow-jade cloak of the Golden Land, Jiang Han adjusted her force energy and flew slowly with the wings extending from beneath the cloak.
Looking down at the fortress below from on high, she panted lightly, the scorching heat not yet dispersed.
Whoosh!
Another squad of witches circled once through the sky before diving into the fortress, unleashing explosions and destruction once more.
The rebel wizards and soldiers resisted with difficulty, gradually retreating into the fortress's inner keep.
The sturdy castle had been enchanted by the wizards, preventing certain spells capable of turning stone into mud from destroying the inner keep's walls. Even the witches' more powerful bombardment, rumbling down upon it, only inflicted casualties on those atop the walls.
It seemed to be the final line of defense, a point from which there was no retreat.
Sharp-eyed witches had already noticed that some people within the inner keep had entered the tunnels.
These rebels were regaining their order and retreating steadily.
Jiang Han narrowed her eyes as she studied the inner keep. With her extraordinary vision, she unsurprisingly spotted Vera standing atop its walls, wielding Vivaldo to cut down greatly enhanced demons. From time to time, she also used the Eternal Ice Eye to shoot down one or two witches in the air—though witches capable of using fifth-level spells generally would not be killed by such an ability. This saintess was practically a god of war.
"Jiang Han!" Tan Yue, circling beside her, shouted.
Most witches were petty, and when Tan Yue saw the person who had chopped her into eight pieces standing on the wall, her eyes turned red.
She pursed her lips toward the wall and said meaningfully:
"The front line has run into some trouble!"
Trouble my ass! The witches were pounding the rebels
