The sky that had been dyed blood-red during the day had gradually returned to normal, and the upheaval that had lasted two days and a night had finally subsided into calm.
All the corpses had been cleared away, yet the air still reeked of the pungent stench of blood.
The western city wall had become little more than broken ruins. The land beyond it was scarred beyond recognition, its overall level seeming to have sunk several meters—evidence enough of how fierce the battle had been.
The ground was strewn with solidified dark-red rock, like cooled lava, along with many strange translucent objects that looked like some sort of crystal.
Lambis stood atop the shattered wall, gazing at the scattered lights, like stars illuminating the darkness.
She had come so close to never seeing those lights again; so close to seeing them vanish from this world forever.
Fortunately.
The Abyss army had been completely annihilated.
Wiped out to the last one.
During the battle, aside from the Dragon Race and that strange army, reinforcements from the Church of Light had also arrived.
This time, they had sent two legions. One was the Temple Knight Legion of Azure Thunder Hall, led by Pasari, once hailed as the Gale Sword Saint. Pasari was now a super-tier powerhouse. The other was a priest legion made up primarily of light-element mages, led by Miranda, disciple of Saintess Eudora.
Yet the ones who had truly turned the tide were that vast, mysterious, strange army.
The Abyss monsters were unlike ordinary soldiers. When the tide had turned or their leader had fallen, normal troops would lose morale and perhaps collapse without a fight. But even when only the last monster remained, it would still charge forward without fear of
