The number of spectators and the charged atmosphere spurred the two low-tier mid-level Horned Demons fighting on the stage, and their battle grew ever fiercer. Yet most people had not come to watch these two. They were here for the next match—the day's final spectacular showdown—between "Flame Demon" Leika and the mysterious Number 64.
"Flame Demon" Leika was a Greater Devil, the arena's strongest Mid-tier Demon. He had fought over a hundred battles and was currently riding a streak of twenty-seven consecutive victories. He was the undisputed king of the arena's mid-tier fighters. Rumor had it that he stood just one step from the high tier, and no one had dared challenge him for nearly three months.
Though Number 64 had been entirely unknown before this, his record was even more miraculous. This would be only his third battle. In his first, against the early mid-tier "Blood Hand" Langke, he had once been driven into a state where he could not strike back at all. Yet after Langke used his Berserk talent, Number 64 turned the tables and slew him in spectacular fashion. In his second battle, against Jess, the strongest of the mid-tier middle ranks, he broke several of Jess's killing moves in succession and ultimately defeated him, but for some reason spared his life. And now, in his third battle, Number 64 was about to face the king of the mid-tier, Leika!
