After they finished studying, Hachiman Hikigaya walked Wang Meiyu back to the Dormitory. He then left his schoolbag in his own room and headed for the shopping center.
Studying was exhausting, but he had to relax once in a while.
Once inside the shopping center, Hachiman first decided to buy some daily necessities.
Snacks were practically indispensable to every student, and Hachiman loved this kind of junk food too.
There was a large supermarket in the shopping center, with far more goods than a convenience store.
It was divided into a snack section, an ingredients section, a daily necessities section, and so on. In short, you could buy all sorts of things here.
Pushing a shopping cart, he picked out several snacks he usually liked, along with some drinks.
After buying roughly enough, Hachiman went to the daily necessities section to see whether there was anything else he needed.
As he turned around the corner of a shelf, a familiar profile entered his line of sight.
That person noticed Hachiman too, her eyes brimming with murderous intent.
"Are you a pervert?"
Horikita's voice was icy, as though a massive sword hung above Hachiman's head. At a single command from Horikita, it would split him in two.
Why was Horikita so angry?
Hachiman glanced at the item in her hand, something every mature woman needed.
He could not help swallowing. What was with this atmosphere?
An ordinary girl would probably have blushed and fled from Hachiman's sight by now.
Yet Horikita could still calmly confront him.
"If I said this was just a coincidence, would you believe me?"
Horikita sneered and hurled the product at Hachiman's face.
Hachiman did not dodge, letting the thing make intimate contact with his cheek.
He took an exaggerated, epic drag deep into his lungs and could not help sighing.
So this was the smell of the thing that accompanied Horikita every month?
"You really are a pervert."
Horikita silently took out the small knife she had picked up ten minutes earlier from her shopping cart. She was determined to deal with him here and rid the people of this menace.
"Please don't do anything so troubling!"
Hachiman backed away in terror. Before he could accomplish Makoto's great achievements, was he going to inherit Makoto's tragic ending?
Horikita glared at him furiously, sneered, put the product back in her cart, then turned the corner and left.
Hachiman, finally breathing a sigh of relief, hurried after her.
"Horikita, you still haven't had dinner this late?"
Hachiman casually asked as he looked at the ingredients in her cart.
More than three hours had passed since school ended. It was already dark outside, and most students would have dealt with dinner before nightfall.
"Because of those idiots."
Although Horikita truly wanted to personally slaughter this pervert, she still answered him.
Hachiman immediately knew the answer. She was probably talking about the Idiot Trio.
With final exams approaching, no matter how hard they worked, they could not be completely confident. So they had no choice but to ask Horikita for help again.
Sudo had even skipped his club activities just to accommodate Horikita's schedule.
Hachiman had made plans with Wang Meiyu today, so he had not joined them.
"Actually, I haven't eaten either."
Hachiman gave her a hopeful look, and Horikita rolled her eyes.
"The Student Cafeteria is still open."
"Huh? If we go now, won't there only be leftovers?"
"What does that matter? As long as it solves the hunger problem, isn't that enough?"
Horikita did not care in the slightest and simply kept walking ahead.
"Don't be so cold. I once went to the hospital for a checkup, and the doctor said my stomach was bad, so I'm suited to living off a woman.
If I eat those leftovers from the cafeteria, I'll probably die on the spot."
"Then that works out nicely. It solves you for me."
Not only did Horikita show no sympathy, she even clapped happily.
What a completely unyielding woman! If this was how it was, then she should not blame him for using forceful measures!
His sharp gaze fell on Horikita's back, making a chill run down her spine.
"Hey, hey, isn't that Hachiman and Horikita?
Ken, they're on a date."
An unexpected voice came from nearby. Ike sounded somewhat gleeful as he emerged from behind a shelf with Sudo and Yamauchi.
"Idiot, don't talk nonsense!"
Before Horikita could even refute him, Sudo's fist had already landed on Ike's head, giving him a harsh lesson.
Seeing this group, Horikita could not help rubbing her forehead and sighing. Today was another day when she had gone out without checking her horoscope.
To think that, in her limited free time, she had run into all four of them at once.
Tutoring them after school was already exhausting enough.
"Hey, Hachiman, that's not what's going on, right?"
Sudo moved close to Hachiman, nudged him with his elbow, and quietly asked what had really happened.
Hachiman nodded. "We just happened to run into each other."
Of course, the way they had met was a little off. He had nearly become the source of her crime.
Hearing his answer, Sudo immediately sighed in relief. Grinning, he slung an arm around Hachiman's shoulders, making them look like close brothers.
"Sigh, I'm heading back first."
Not wanting to waste time, Horikita prepared to say goodbye and leave.
"Wait, Horikita."
Sudo followed after her. Ike and Yamauchi also stuck close behind, while Hachiman leisurely trailed after them.
His gaze fell on Yamauchi. This guy clearly had a girlfriend, yet he still followed Sudo and the others around every day.
After paying their respective points, they left together.
Sudo kept pestering Horikita, wanting to talk to her a little longer.
Horikita looked rather impatient, but Sudo's excuse was that he had questions about studying, so she could not find a reason to refuse him for the moment.
As they passed the second floor, an familiar figure appeared in the corner of Hachiman's eye.
It was an extremely conspicuous figure at school: a head of eye-catching golden hair that easily drew attention.
Without even taking off his shirt, one could clearly sense the explosive muscles hidden beneath his clothes.
Koenji Rokusuke, Class D's biggest troublemaker.
Hachiman subconsciously looked up. The place Koenji was in was the Gym.
It seemed his muscles had come from disciplined training after all!
Despite being in such a dreamlike school, he still made time to go to the Gym.
For Koenji, that was clearly quite surprising behavior.
"Huh? Isn't that Koenji?"
Sudo also noticed Koenji, who was working up a sweat in the Gym.
It had to be said that even Sudo felt envious of Koenji's muscles.
Hachiman did not feel much about it, though. A body like a bodybuilder's was not particularly popular with girls at their age.
