Xue Xi reached out and curiously touched Babata's little devil horns, feeling a cool, smooth texture under her fingers. She asked with interest, "Babata, can you intelligent life forms actually be touched?"
Babata was in the middle of coaxing Luo Feng to join the Falling Ink Star Ship. To prevent this woman from bothering him further, he swatted her prying hand away. "You weird human, don't touch me! We intelligent life forms can simulate physical tactile sensations, okay? Go play somewhere else!"
Xue Xi's forehead darkened with frustration. She grabbed Babata's squishy, elastic cheeks and gave them a good kneading. "Is that any way to talk to a smart and cute beautiful girl? I'll give you one more chance to rephrase that!"
Babata's little wings fluttered as he flew up, breaking free from Xue Xi's clutches. He pointed at Luo Feng, who was sitting upright and watching the show. "In fifty thousand years, only you and Luo Feng have had Psychic talent that met the standard. But who knows what's inside that freakish brain of yours? Your brain region width is impossible to measure no matter what I try. You wasted so much of my time with repeated tests—if that doesn't make you a freak, what does?"
Xue Xi gave him a look that suggested it was a failure of his own capabilities, which made Babata stomp his feet in the air in a fit of rage. "So, you just threw away all those Wood Bud Crystals like a nouveau riche, creating a King-level Monster tide just to lure us here?"
Babata looked at Xue Xi with a resentful, bitter expression. "It's not like I wanted to! You humans were increasing your strength too fast. The dozen or so Wood Bud Crystals I threw out to cultivate King-level Monsters were wasted as if they were tossed into the water. Do you think I was willing to do that?"
Xue Xi suddenly understood. So that was it; she had been wondering how someone as stingy as Babata could be so generous.
At this point, Babata stopped paying attention to Xue Xi and turned to the obedient Luo Feng. "Give me a straight answer: are you going to take me as your master or not?"
Luo Feng glanced at Xue Xi and saw her nod slightly, so he didn't hesitate any longer. "I will, of course I will. But if we're talking about the best talent on Earth, I think Xue Xi is stronger than me. Are you sure you don't want to take her as a disciple?"
Babata hesitated for a moment, then his expression turned firm, and he shook his head like a rattle-drum. "No, no! Although her cultivation speed is indeed fast, I can't measure her brain region width. I've waited for fifty thousand years; I can't gamble on this!"
He then left Xue Xi aside and pulled Luo Feng away to perform the apprenticeship ceremony for his old master.
Xue Xi didn't mind. She had no interest in the inheritance of a Fenghou Immortal, let alone stealing an opportunity from her third brother. It wasn't as if she didn't have better options. She had only come here to have Babata deal with the intelligent program in Ruins No. 15, so she could get in touch with the universe sooner and avoid missing the Genius Tournament.
When the time came, she would just sneak into a secret realm and open a shop in the Virtual Universe. It would be safe and highly profitable. Given the massive population base on a cosmic scale, completing her mission would just be a matter of time and patience.
Just as Xue Xi was daydreaming about the future, Babata and Luo Feng finished the inheritance and came before her. Babata said somewhat awkwardly, "Um, Xue Xi, I was wrong before. Now that Luo Feng has become my disciple and you are his sworn fourth sister, why don't you join the Falling Ink Star Ship too? You'll be able to use all kinds of secret manuals, except for the core inheritance. How about it?"
Xue Xi waved her hand. "That won't be necessary. I don't need any secret manuals. I just need you to do one thing for me, and I'll let this matter slide."
Babata asked suspiciously, "If you don't want to be my disciple, then fine. What is it? What can I possibly help you with now that I'm out of this ship?"
She projected the information about Ruins No. 12 from her smart bracelet. "There is a fairly intact spaceship in this ancient civilization ruin, but its intelligent system is still running. We need you to take control of it and then repair the ship."
Babata was thrilled when he heard about the ship. "What? Are you sure?!" The Falling Ink Star Ship was mostly damaged, and having been stuck underground for fifty thousand years without seeing the light of day, how could he not be excited to hear about an intact ship?
Xue Xi nodded with a smile. Babata couldn't sit still any longer and tossed the ring in his hand to Luo Feng. "Luo Feng, hurry up and use this World Ring to store the Falling Ink Star Ship! Let's go take a look!"
Luo Feng, acting as the designated tool-man, shrugged. He and Xue Xi exited the ship. Under Babata's control, the ship deactivated its stealth mode. Luo Feng tossed the ring upward, and a massive suction force erupted from it, with his psychic power covering the several-kilometer-long vessel.
The next second, the blood-red Falling Ink Star Ship vanished from sight, and the cramped underground space instantly emptied. Fortunately, the structure here was incredibly stable due to eons of geological pressure, otherwise, it would have surely triggered a massive collapse!
A few minutes later, the two of them burst out of the water. Hong and Thor had already finished dealing with the surrounding Monsters and arrived to rendezvous after receiving Xue Xi's message.
Thor spoke first. "Fourth sister, I heard you have a way to handle that spaceship ruin?"
Xue Xi nodded with a smile and snapped her fingers crisply. "I choose you, come out, Babata!"
Babata, in his little devil form, popped out from the ring hanging around Luo Feng's neck and crossed his small arms. "Hmph, Xue Xi, don't think I don't know your Earthling internet memes. I'm quite the internet surfer myself, alright!"
