Background

Xiao Fan’s parents died in Cloud Sea when he was eight. He was subsequently raised in Sea City by his paternal uncle, Xiao Yi, alongside Xiao Yi’s wife Liu Xiujuan and their twins, Xiao An and Xiao Le. The five lived in a small apartment in an old residential complex. 1 2

As a child, Xiao Fan befriended Chen Xuewei while Xiao Yi worked at the Chen Family Manor. Madam Chen considered him unworthy of associating with her daughter, had Xiao Yi fired and beaten, and severed the children’s relationship. The injuries from that incident contributed to Xiao Yi’s later health problems. 11

After placing first in the college entrance examination, Xiao Fan was assigned to resource-poor Novice Village Zone 18 instead of receiving the placement his score warranted. Principal Yu later admitted that the reassignment was linked to Xiao Fan’s association with Chen Xuewei and pressure from the Chen Family. 11 13

Xiao Fan is a young man with a youthful face and a lean build. He is often mistaken for someone important because his age contrasts sharply with the dangerous, high-level regions he enters. 14 239

Xiao Fan is analytical, opportunistic, and unusually calm under pressure. He rapidly identifies game mechanics, turns enemy advantages against them, and makes decisions based on long-term survival rather than convention.
