In the revised class schedule, in addition to the regular PE classes, every afternoon had been left free for students to practice on their own.
Although few students in Class B were good at studying, they weren't bad at sports.
"Your results aren't bad. Compared to your academic ability, you have much more talent for sports." Watching the Class B students pant after running two thousand meters, Sawahara gave his assessment.
"You bastard." Ryuen wheezed and swung a fist at Sawahara's face, but Sawahara dodged it easily. "Why don't you run yourself?"
"Because I have to record your times." Sawahara offered a perfectly reasonable excuse. After all, this wasn't PE class, so there was no way a gym teacher would be there to supervise their training.
"Kaneda and Shiina are the ones recording our times, aren't they?" Ryuen cut straight through Sawahara's lie. Sawahara was clearly just standing there watching.
"Because running is exhausting." Sawahara paused, then gave his real reason.
"..." Ryuen was speechless. "You son of a—"
You didn't want to run because it was tiring, but you still made us run? Ryuen was so furious that he let loose a string of curses.
"Don't be so angry. If you really need to blow off steam, there are two punching bags over there." Sawahara nodded toward two people nearby who were watching them.
"You can take it out on them."
"Those guys from Class A?" Ryuen turned his head and immediately spotted a conspicuous shock of blond hair. He recognized the other student as Hashimoto Masayoshi from Class 1-A.
"Ishizaki, Yamada, come with me." Ryuen wore a menacing grin. He was in a bad mood, and he was an expert at driving people away.
"Sawahara, I don't think there's a two-thousand-meter race in this year's Sports Festival, is
