On Friday, October 6, all three grades had their schedules cleared for the afternoon. Every student gathered in the school gymnasium. That day marked the Student Council President election and the handover ceremony. Once the ceremony was over, the Student Council would officially be under new leadership.
Everyone knew how the election would turn out, since there was only one candidate. Still, they had to go through the motions.
Before the vote, it was customary for the candidate, Sagara, to give a speech and promote his ideas in an effort to win votes.
Before speaking, Sagara looked down from the stage toward the Class 2-A section. Miyabi Nagumo was standing at the very front. When he noticed Sagara looking at him, he returned an ugly smile.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Sagara Zoya from Class 1-B. I'm honored that both Horikita-senpai and the Chairman thought highly of me, and that I'm standing here today to run for Student Council President."
"Though I've been at this school for less than half a year, I've gained a great deal during that time..."
"I believe we should focus more on developing each student's individual strengths and make better use of the resources available on campus to improve their abilities. I promise that once I become Student Council President, I'll ask the school to increase its investment in club activities and revise the current club management policies. That way, students can make full use of the school's resources and develop into even more capable people."
Sagara had no intention of making major changes to the school's competitive system. Instead, he had set his sights on the clubs on campus.
Just as he had once declared in class, he would support and help everyone do what they wanted. Clubs were a very suitable way to do that.
