True to her reputation as the model of someone who got things done once she was paid, Mrs. Wolf began making Harry's new wand on the very second day after arriving at the Scamanders' home.

In the days that followed, this dedicated wandmaker spent nearly all her time in the little cabin inside the suitcase, only showing her face at mealtimes.

She must have moved all her tools over. Every day, she wrote and sketched at the workbench amid constant clanging, occasionally pressing Harry with all sorts of questions.

For instance, which hand Harry was used to using to wave a wand; whether he held it by pinching it or gripping it; whether he preferred to move it from bottom to top or from left to right when casting, and so on.

Her manner even made Harry worry that this old lady might be planning to dissect his right hand...

Finally, about twenty days later, when the Scamander family had grown impatient and Harry had even begun going out to search for the remaining ingredients for the Animagus potion, there was finally some movement from Mrs. Wolf.

Early one morning, while the Scamanders were having breakfast, a violent explosion suddenly rang out from the suitcase, followed by billowing clouds of smoke.

"Wolf... This is bad. Hurry, let's go take a look!" The moment Scamander saw the smoke, he knew something had gone terribly wrong and hurried over with everyone else.

By the time they arrived, the ladder leading down had been completely blown
