Faced with the Buddhist Sage's words, Bai Ze pondered for a moment before saying, "I still don't quite understand."
"To become strong, the Heart of a Strong Person is indispensable."
"With your status and cultivation, you stand among the very best in the world. Even if someone truly is stronger than you, you should not let fear arise in your heart."
Hearing Bai Zhi's words, the Buddhist Sage glanced at him and smiled faintly. "Your becoming the Buddha Lord owes much to the Undertaker's guidance."
"In that case, we need not discuss this with Buddhist teachings today."
"As the saying goes, the ruthless fear the reckless, and the reckless fear those who do not fear death."
"They are a pack of utter Madmen, and a pack of exceedingly powerful Madmen at that."
"So no matter how strong we are, we will ultimately have to fear them."
Receiving this answer, Bai Ze asked, "How are they Madmen?"
"Anyone who unwaveringly believes in immortality—what else could they be but a Madman?"
"What do you mean?"
Bai Zhi asked instinctively. The Buddhist Sage slowly sat down and said, "I already said that immortality is what all cultivators pursue."
"But cultivators throughout the world have a very interesting attitude toward immortality."
"Power, cultivation, emotion..."
"People endlessly chase all these things, even willing to pay with their lives."
"And immortality is the pinnacle of all desires. By all reason, it should drive countless people mad."
"But in truth, the world is not as fanatical about immortality as one might imagine."
"The fundamental reason is that immortality does not exist."
Hearing this, Bai Zhi said, "If immortality does not exist, then what are cultivators throughout the world pursuing?"
"The continuation of desire, naturally!"
"Only while a living being remains alive can it continue enjoying everything it
